It's wonderful.
36 holes at Brancaster (foursomes in the morning, lunch and singles in the afternoon) has to be up there with one of my best golfing experiences.
An absolute joy. If you can get on there, it's a must play. I'll be going back when I can to play at high tide.

That does look pretty incredible - must admit Norfolk was never somewhere I associated as a golf destination, but that looks stunning.
These pictures, The Open and a couple of friends sending me pictures from Conwy is really making me yearn for some links golf.
It really is a fantastic stretch of coast - the villages and small towns are lovely. These pictures, The Open and a couple of friends sending me pictures from Conwy is really making me yearn for some links golf.
And it makes for a great 4/5 day golf break - start at Cromer and work your way along. very enjoyable.
We played as a 4ball at Cromer, a 4ball at Sheringham, played 4somes in the morning then 2 x 2ball's in the afternoon at Brancaster and then finished with a 4ball at Hunstanton.
Including a night at a hotel in Sheringham and 2 nights at a lovely guesthouse in Hunstanton it cost us £600 each (not including beer and dinner cash!).
Thoroughly recommend it.
Managed to get a day booked in next October for a high tide tee at Brancaster. Can't wait already! https://www.rwngc.org/

After a few horrible rounds striking my irons horribly. I finally gave in on my experiment with slightly longer (half inch) irons with plus 4 grips.
So, on Friday out came the stanly knife and hacksaw.
Equipped with Standard size grips and clubs the right length with a better feeling swing weight I ventured out onto the course with some trepidation.
The irons instantly felt more comfortable after feeling like I’d flushed a few warming up in the net.
I hit 7 of 9 GIR on the front 9. Of the 2 that missed one was by 6” the other 3ft. Unfortunately very slow greens and my inability to adapt saw me 3 putt three times in 4 holes to shoot 3 over on the front.
The back 9 was fairly steady but still couldn’t hole a thing until a birdie on 18. The 17th was a poor hole, and as well as I was playing is a hole that can easily end in a double if you don’t get a good tee shot away. Well, I hit my best drive of the day. Stood over a downwind 147 yard approach I thought to myself that the hard work always done. Then blocked an 8 iron off the planet
Final score was 78, but that was the absolute worst I could have shot. Down to a HI of 7.8 which I didn’t think I’d ever see again when I started back playing 2 years ago. I was off 7.6 when I retired from golf in 2008. One more round in the 70s should see me under 7.5 which will give me a course HC of 8. Then I’ll be content.

Just wanted to share with some people that will understand...
Playing as a solo yesterday, I joined up with a pair of great guys ahead of me as it was slow in front of them. They were playing between themselves, but let me tag along so I wasn't just waiting on them, and I had some people to talk to.
Anyway, didn't play amazingly well although I hit some brilliant irons including GIRs that I've not hit before, such as an uphill 450y par 5, even when my drive was slightly out wide right and I had to recover.
Come the 18th, another par 5, this time 430y, and the guys are chatting about, "hmm, well even if you hit a 230y drive, that still leaves 200 in, we probably won't get there in 2 etc".
I proceed to step up and crush my drive, arrow straight, best contact with the sweet spot I've ever felt. The other two guys were cooing! Got to the ball and it's travelled 270y on flat ground, leaving approximately 185 left (GPS).
Seeing 185y, I'm thinking of taking 5 iron, but I hesitate and instead pull 6i. My thinking was, I've been hitting 6i reasonably well, and I fancy that I can hit it 170, whereas with 5i, I could hit it 185, but I'd just as likely duff it into the ditch.
Well, I hit this 6i so pure and I can see it's going to land in the greenside bunker, which would've been about the 180 I needed. However, it then proceeds to kick OUT of the bunker and ends up travelling somewhere in the region of 195-200y including being deadened by the bunker.
So here's us all talking about not reaching the green in two and then I've CLEARED the green in two, with probably the two best shots I've ever hit individually, let alone back-to-back! I'll ignore the fact I chipped on and then three-putted for bogey, but I didn't care, I was absolutely beaming.

430 yard par 5, though? That's a par 4 every day of the week!!

Medal this weekend and it wasn't my day....
On the first in regulation (par-3), only to 3-putt
Creamed a drive down the second, only to end up in an indentation from what i suspect was a fallen tree - i couldn't get anything on it and had to bump 100 yards down (the par-5) instead of going for it as I'd otherwise have done
Double on the par-3 3rd, mainly from playing too conservatively from the bunker then 3-putting
From then I was on a roll, all pars to the 8th where I......hooked one left into the GUR - issue is that my course have a local rule where you get relief, but only if you find the ball.....I didn't - didn't help that the 4th shot (second shot with the provisional) was lost in the semi short of the green.....bliss! - a quad it was...
Rather pissed off I then topped one into the cavern on the next hole....and walked away with another quad, before opening my shoulders on the 10th and spraying it 60yds right.....losing the ball but finding the provisional in exactly the same place.....and getting a triple....
Played ok from there but being off 6 the damage was already done and the card ruined. I never normally lose a ball and I lost 3 in a round....what can you do...
Lets hope the final medal of the year in ~4 weeks time goes a little better!!!!
I hate days like that! The only good thing is that normally you then have a good round and can say 'why didn't I play like this last week?!.'On the first in regulation (par-3), only to 3-putt

That course looks good - never played it but may be one to add to the "lets play" list if any good
Definitely worth a visit! Have to say it was in excellent condition, and the greens were fabulous - probably the best I've played on this year! That course looks good - never played it but may be one to add to the "lets play" list if any good
Some very nice holes, and although still very new I thoroughly enjoyed the round. Managed a 9 over par 81.
Any of you guys follow the Cookie Jar Golf podcast? If you don't, I really recommend it!

Just bought some of their gear - some nice tees (I do like a nice tee), half price putter head cover and towel.

So close to a hole in one yesterday during a full house captain's charity day!
Hit a lovely 7 iron to a 160 yard pin, pitch mark was about 3 feet short of the hole and the ball was about 8" behind the hole. Must have literally just rolled over the edge. Gutted!
Also happened to be the hole that my company had sponsored - at least I won the nearest to the pin!
