England's tail puts up a solid fight this morning then...
Indeed.

No sooner had Vic Marks said another 30 would be good, out first ball!

But the bowlers have their peckers up.

tbh I'd almost prefer a loss in this game to get the pelters flying and light some fire in Root. Also good to see a minnow do well.

Can't see it happening now though.

26 is the lowest ever test score (NZ vs ENG 1955) can they avoid it?

England have been very lucky with the conditions yesterday and today - batting on the hottest day of the year, then bowling in today's cooler, overcast conditions.

True, although Ireland got the best of the green pitch on day 1. Going to be a very lopsided match outcome - both teams bowled out in a session at opposite ends of the match. Feel bad for Ireland after lots of good work.

Nah, we only need 1st slip the way the catches have gone.

Shame Broad couldn't bowl just 1 straight ball to clean up.

Never judge a match on the first innings.

Ireland were never knocking 182 off in those conditions against our bowlers. Didn't think they'd go for less than 40 though.

I wonder how many other tests there’ve been when no new ball was taken.

Just checked in on the score to see it all over!

Feel sorry for Ireland really but a devastating display from Woakes especially. Hopefully they'll keep their heads up after the first innings performance.

Meanwhile England learn not much.

Roll on the Ashes. I am really hoping we can put them to the sword... Mainly to read John's comments on here smile

Listening to the commentary they where saying the Ireland batsman would have never faced those type of bowlers, on a similar wicket, in those conditions ever.

Fantastic they pushed England over the first 2 days, but eventually England's quality with the ball did for them.

Not quite true, doesn't miss a chance if, say, Jofra Archer sends down a jaffa, or Stokes hits some decent runs to come out with "WIndies/ Kiwis bowling/batting well today" hehe
