Disgusting. But not particularly surprising

Hastings and Berghan were idiots too.

I'm sure Jones will want to grind Scotland into the dust next time round.
Well I hope Jones stays more classy than that.

However, I can only imagine the outrage if this was outside Twickenham. Hastings really needs to be more measured. But on the other hand, I think Brian Moore has offended pretty much everyone over the years ..

I am reading that Eddie Jones was verbally and physically abused by Scots 'fans' on his way home at the weekend.

What an embarrassing bunch of bigoted idiots. I'd like to apologise on behalf of proper Scots rugby fans, we're not all uncivilised bravehearts...
I can't help wondering how much that mournful dirge of a "National Anthem" Flower of Scotland is to blame for this sort of thing?

It really can't be all that great for the national psyche to start every rugby (and football?) match with a song about how the pinnacle of your achievement as a country was to temporarily avoid being conquered 800 years ago, coupled with the recognition that all is lost and you can't go back, can it? hehe

The issue captured in a nutshell - thanks for that.
I"ll refer you to verse six of the UK (English) national anthem... An anthem so mired in history and hostility it makes FoS sound like a nursery rhyme.

By the way - Disgraceful behaviour by the Scottish fans that abused EJ - Hope they are found and banned from Murrayfield at least.

Just to make it worse, they have even bastardised that dirge.

I'd be having 'Scotland the brave', it's far more upbeat.

Absolutely, bloody morons.....EJ was the perfect gent in the post match interview and very magnanimous in defeat....now saying he'll not use public transport in the UK again because of this.
He was boo'd by Scottish fans after their deserved victory. It was entirely unnecessary. And now the footage has emerged of these idiots abusing him.

As an Englishman, I love it when my team wins - but I am always deeply respectful of our opponents, particularly Scotland, Wales and Ireland. That's how rugby has always been. I do hope it's not changing.

It may not get that far. The BBC are reporting that the Australian High Commission have already dispatched their top assassination squads North of the border to track these scum down and explain to them with extreme prejudice just what happens to people who accuse Eddie Jones of "being English".

On other matters, what's up with these two ABZ accounts with near identical post count and longevity?

Ha ha. I suspect we may use the same airport, but I don't know anyone with an RS6!

Same as Wales did to Scotland on the 1st weekend of the championship, blew them away with passion and fine rugby....and I doff my cap to them for that.

I don't whole heartily agree that Wales blew Scotland away with 'passion'. The Welsh were playing good rugby, no question, but Scotland's recent success is based on outstanding patience. In the Scotland v NZ match in November the Scots built up around 155 phases, playing to NZs 55. Once Scotland start attacking they don't stop. If their forward drive doesn't grind you down their effective 1-3-3-1 attack patterns, kicking game and grubber play will.

In the Wales game Scotland were playing the same sort of rugby that they were playing in the autumn for the first quarter. On the 15 min mark Scotland could well have scored from a break by Huw Jones, had they scored the match may have turned out differently. The issue was Scotland went down 14-0 at half time to a side they believed to have parity with. So the Scottish lost their patience and faith in their ability to win the game. You could see that in the erratic and forced plays by Ali Price and Finn Russell. They didn't have the mental strength to get themselves back in to a game, and keep to the strategy, unlike Wales who have a never say die approach.

Scotland's biggest weakness is their mental strength. Once they have that sorted they're going to be a real force in rugby. By 2023, if they continue their development, they'll be a consistent top 5 side in my opinion.

Think we'll file that one under 'experimental' then! If Italy stick the ball up the jumper, we might struggle...

Blair Kinghorn in for the injured Tommy Seymour is the only change to Scotland's starting XV for the Ireland match.

It'd be interesting to see if Scotland dent Ireland's chances of the slam and winning the competition at the weekend.

Indeed it will. I am certain Scotland won't be allowed the free ride at the breakdown that England afforded them.

Ireland welcoming back a few previously injured players. Should make for an interesting game. Would normally be confident enough of beating Scotland (last year for instance) but....
