Great to see a fighter get to 50-0 without needing a glorified exhibition bout against someone making their professional boxing debut to do it!

nice to see, and done legitimately as well!!......but in terms of winning streaks he's a mere pup compared to jimmy wilde who was 93-0 before his first losseek

True...although as I mocked the record of Mayweather’s 50th opponent, it would be remiss of me not to point out that Chavez racked up the half-century against a fighter who was...wait for it...1-15 going in to the contest!!!

As such, I think we can all agree that Wanheng has just made Mayweather and Chavez into his bhes!!! Not bad for a day’s work!!! wink

yeah, chavez certainly set the framework for quantity over quality in his formative years...a blueprint followed religiously by some of his mexican scions !

Was interesting to listen to interviews from them, due to age and wear and tear, both confessed that neither train in the same manner they did before.

Haye has dropped the plyometrics he did and Bellew said he doesn't spar on consecutive days and so on.

Both should retire after this match as their bodies seem to be saying no.

So at the ripe age of 44 Ive started MMA and I'm currently being taught strikes (combination of boxing and Thai)

Is it just me or is throwing a left hook hard to learn? The footwork is difficult - the step to the left, weight on the left foot, release the hook whilst moving weight onto the back foot all in one fast fluid motion

Maybe an old dog can't be taught new tricks!

being southpaw my whole "thing" is throwing the right hook off the right jab...step into the jab then step through to the right and immediately throw the hook...20 years ago i wasn't getting much purchase on the hook, i couldn't get any meat on it. my old coach at the time said something that stuck with me and i've passed it on wherever i could. imagine you are putting out a ciggie with your front foot ,heel rotating outwards as you throw the hook as your back leg is planted. it sets of the kinetic chain from the calf right up to the shoulder.....hey presto you have just learned how to throw a jab and lead hook in quick succession !
some folk throw hooks with the palm of the hand facing the floor...i throw hooks as if i'm holding a kettle...whatever works best for you but you WILL get more power into it my waybiggrin

best trick i was ever taught...

another thing to be mindful of is don't always listen to boxing coaches for muay thai or mma.....the stance in mt is more square on and the guard is higher and wider. i trained mma for a while but the mt in particular really ruined my boxing for a while.(not to mention my knees)...i found that i squared up a lot more and was exposing my torso too much. packed in the mt and within a few weeks things went back to normal.

oh , and kudos for having a go at 44!...i'm 43 now and let me tell you pal, whatever you could do at 30 will be a fair bit harder now!...and niggling injuries take twice as long to clear up

Psychological reasons? Crawford delayed this fight due to an unspecified hand injury and there was big fuss where Horn's sides demanded medical information behind this but Crawford refused. So maybe this is to indicate his is now fine.

Or maybe he has steel plates or something in his hand now hehe

Did any of you catch the Bellew Vs Haye open workout yesterday?

I am actually a big fan of Haye's skill set and think that head to head you can face him off against any cruiserweight and he wouldn't embarrass himself (yes, I'm including Holyfield and Usyk in that). But yesterday, he just looked so flat footed. Sure, he looked fast and his punches looked fluid but the only time he was on his toes was when he was jogging on the spot.

Bellew, on the otherhand, looked light on his feet and he looked sharp. Bellew will have the better legs in this fight which is just crazy when you think about it.

I truly hope Haye wins but I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see Bellew make him miss and make him get desperate. I think he (and Bellew) should retire after this fight. Bellew would get creamed by the rest of the heavyweight division and if Haye can't get past him then he needs to hang his gloves up.

If Bellew can win again or even go the distance and win a few rounds I don't see why he shouldn't try to drop back down and fight the winner or Usyk and Gassiev. (should that particular fight ever come to pass, it surely must)

Massive event for UK fans, massive event for Usyk or Gassiev. The UK at the moment is able to put these kind of events on and we should demand to see the best in the UK while the market is willing.

Haye on the other hand isn't going anywhere, win or lose.

Bellew would get beaten like a ginger stepchild against the likes of Usyk or Gassiev I'm afraid. He'd also get beaten by any of the top 10 heavyweights too. Now Haye can't use explosive movement he has nothing to bother heavyweights other than his powerful punching which is now somewhat hampered.

It would be great to see the best version of both of them but sadly I think those days are now long behind them.

I suspect the winner, or even both will end up fighting Tyson Fury next summer. Big payday, low risk of getting hurt from Fury, so will appeal a lot.

Fury would have to do a complete turn around to fight Haye. But you never know, anything is possible. Maybe he'd view either one as a decent tune up?

I still feel that Haye would have iced Fury if they fought when they were originally suppose to. Now, even after his lay off, I'd favour Fury.

Enjoyed the press conference just now, was all standard stuff until Bellew started to talk to Haye directly.
