Also like some of the moves made by the Broncos and the Colts. Pats def. need to bring in some weapons for Brady this season (can't just rely on Edelman again) and I don't really understand the move of losing Talib and bringing in Revis.

Anyone been following the developments in free agency?
I'm a Raiders fan and really pleased with what Mckenzie has been doing, allows us to select the best player available in the draft which is hopefully a playmaking WR in the first round (possibly trading down for an extra round 2 pick) and developmental QB in the second.
Also a Raiders fan and not so happy about McKenzie/Allen moves. They have this year to prove that their original 3 year plan will pay off and I have to think that that means an 8-8 or at least 7-9 season. The problem is that while I can see what they were doing in making cap space there's no real sign yet that they know how to make best use of that money. I mean now they're talking about interest in Schaub - really? Not that he's the worst QB out there, but he's really no better than Pryor - in which I'm in agreement with the NFL.com pundits. TP has potential and at the beginning of last season he was improving hand over fist until his injury and then he never really got the chance to get back into the game until the end of the season - waste of a good player.I'm a Raiders fan and really pleased with what Mckenzie has been doing, allows us to select the best player available in the draft which is hopefully a playmaking WR in the first round (possibly trading down for an extra round 2 pick) and developmental QB in the second.
And don't get me started about McFadden. He's a decent player, but he needs to be put into plays where he can use his open field speed, because he's useless trying to break through a heavy line. He actually has better hands than a lot of the receiving corps, but I'd have let him go and kept the core of last year's O-line instead.
As for the draft, we'll see. Yes, a top-flight receiver like Sammy Watkins would be nice, but he'll only catch balls the QB can get to him and the QB needs to be able to get stay out of trouble and make accurate throws. Again, TP is the only Raiders QB last year to show clear improvement through the games he played and he has plenty to prove. I'm really looking forward to this year's training camps and pre-season.

Schaub had a bad season last year but I still feel he is an upgrade to anything on our roster and Mckenzie has already stated he wouldn't want a rookie starting in 2014. I can see the Raiders taking a QB like Fales or Carr in the middle rounds (plenty of choice should be available) and developing them alongside Mcgloin and behind Schaub through 2014/15. It's a move I like because it seems unlikely any of the QBs in this draft will be instant starters and it allows the Raiders to draft best player available and bring in some instant impact playmakers.
I'd like to see them trade down a bit and pick up an additional second round pick allowing them to bring in two or three impact players in key positions.
As for McFragile, I def. wanted to see him go and Jennings stay but I imagine a new RB will be drafted and with just $100k guaranteed DMC is really going to have to earn his money this year, he's practically free! The O-line I think has been upgraded with really big guys who should be able to both keep the integrity of the pocket and create some running lanes for DMC.
James Jones provides some much needed leadership for our young receiving corps and should be a really good addition.
On top of this almost all of the contracts handed out are not huge and only for a couple of years so Reggie is filling gaps that can be taken over by draft choices in the years to come.
I'm not saying all of the signings will work out but I'm very confident that overall the team has been upgraded and I'd be happy to go 7-9 this season as it shows progress. The Raiders are a joke at the moment and have to change the culture and create a franchise that good players want to come to, I think Reggie is doing just that.

Yeah but.... In the land of misfits.Rex can play with the wildcat again in his last season, a season that like all the others will begin with wild boasts and fanfare and end in ignominy.
And there was no boasting pre season last year, in fact the media didn't write much, as they didn't expect anything at all from them.
It put too much pressure on the players making predictions, so Rex has learn't that lesson and does not do that anymore.

I would have liked to see Pryor get more game time last season as I thought he gave them the best chance to win but, it can't be denied that he is a run first QB and at the moment really doesn't have much ability to stick around in the pocket. The fact that McGloin got so much game time last season suggests to me that Allen prefers a pocket passer and they are still prevalent in the AFC, the main running QBs like Kaepernick, RGIII and to a lesser extent Newton and Wilson are all in the NFC.

We'll have to wait and see how the draft goes. I can't say I'm too confident for this season and, if you're going to say "give me three years" then you have to start delivering in 3 years. But there. Whilst he didn't say they would win the Super Bowl this week he did suggest that they are better than ever and raring to go. Strap yourselves in for the last year of the circus and be ready for disappointment Jets fans!

Think that is a bit harsh on Rex. Remember that it is the GM that signs the players, not the coach. Although I will admit that the coach does have an input.
I think that the Jets will be a better team this year - although admittedly they over-achieved last year. Geno started to come good towards the end of the season and at least this year he has a viable target to throw to in Decker (although unless they can add another quality WR through free agency or trade as well as the draft, Decker will get marked out of the game). As you mentioned, Vick is too fragile as a bonafide starter, so I am expecting Smith to learn from Vick and step his game up in the face of increased competition. Let's face it, the competition from Sanchez wasn't great and Smith was as green (pun intended) as they come last year as a rookie.

J E T S jets jets jets!
We've got tonnes of cap space left and as far as I know, there are penalties if not enough of it is spent, so it's not as if we would be robbing peter to pay paul.
I doubt we'll go for anyone other free agent WRs - I like the idea of a sneaky run at Sidney Rice if he can demonstrate fitness - and will fill the WR and TE needs with the draft. If Chris Johnson was available at $4M he would be a significant upgrade over Powell and we can then have Powell as a back up and dump Goodson.

CJ would be a great fit, but I can't see him ending up there.
I'm interested to see what Peppers brings to the Pack, he does have flashes of brilliance but I wish they'd stop plugging gaps and pull in some fresh blood for the D, preferably long haulers that doesn't hammer the salary cap. Moon on a stick and all that...
