Very much a "get you round". With over 800m of ascent this isn't going to be fast marathon for me - even if being my 1st, it will be a PB (assuming I finish, obviously).
Thanks for the feedback everyone. After some thought plus your feedback I'm not going to try to stuff another marathon in before Snowdonia as it may well wreck Snowdonia. I'm sure it's mixing metaphors but trying to run before you can walk seems to spring to mind, and your comments seem to mirror my thoughts.

I run the coast path in Somerset and Cornwall and its hard to find any sections that aren't hilly !

Pembrokeshire - there are a couple of sections that are flat, but much the same as Cornwall TBH - i.e. mostly hilly and really not bad to run on!. I run the coast path in Somerset and Cornwall and its hard to find any sections that aren't hilly !
Here's one I took on my run Saturday..
Pembrokeshire coast near St.Brides

Hi all. I got myself a pair of asics metaspeed sky runners. quite nice and bouncy and the second pair ive head with a pair of magicspeed also in the closet. My question, with these type of runners, is how long do they last in terms of KM?
Many say these type of shoes only last maybe a few hundred miles.Ive got 2 pairs of vaporflys, one has done around 500 miles and has zero grip and not in great shape but i still throw them on the odd day as they still seem fine and almost as responsive as my new pair.

Interesting. I religiously use Nike Invincible for all running (other than road races). I put 1,000 km through a pair and then change. I can really feel the difference in ‘bounce’. For road racing I use Nike Vapourfly Next %. I’ve put about 150km through my current pair, and I’m sure they are going ‘off’ losing their response. I don’t have a new pair to compare then to though….Ive got 2 pairs of vaporflys, one has done around 500 miles and has zero grip and not in great shape but i still throw them on the odd day as they still seem fine and almost as responsive as my new pair.
I have a Road race in the morning, so hope they won’t let me down!
PS when you do all your running in a big heavy barge of a shoe like the invincible, warming up for a race in the Next % is phenomenal!

Would love to hear your thoughts on the metaspeed. I would say it completely depends on you and your form, however I would use them for 3 key fast sessions before a race and then if you get on with them keep them for race day only or when you really want to smash it! I went full fan boy and bought the reebok carbon shoe, 25%discount code from Google and they were £95. Looks to be a less aggressive half carbon plate affair, perfect for me as I love my hoka rocket x and can keep them for race day now!
Ran a 10 mile race today and was targeting 65 mins...... well blimey the vaporflys did their job as I came in around 61:30 and felt pretty good. The shoes make a massive difference and really looking forward to the masters next weekend.

Haha yeah never thought i'd get into low 35 for 10k but here we are! Is it the shoes or me...both for sure but not sure how much more i'm getting from the shoes! I always struggle to explain what it's like running with them to others, it's just different..! Edited by The jiffle king on Tuesday 19th April 09:19

I've only worn them for 2 x 5k and a 10 mile with a couple of miles of warm-up but they make a dramatic difference from what I can see. I'm usually a Wave rider shoe but I'm a convert for raceshttps://www.fastrunning.com/opinion/comment/a-new-...
Wore reebok floatride x - half carbon plate things, for a tempo run yday. Great shoe nice rocker, good cushioning, good lockdown. Very warm though there is 2 layers to the upper, not a long run shoe for middle of summer and not a winter shoe as the outsole is grippy but almost completely smooth.

limited then. why did you wear it? was it given to you to test?rastapasta said:

I was just giving my feedback in case anyone else was eyeing them up.

It just takes people like yourself to think outside the box

I have had the Floatride Energy 2 and also the Floatride Energy Grow. Really like them as well, and seem cracking value compared to the other big names.

Just google it and you can get 25% for free on a voucher code website!I just need to wait for a promo code or sale on the reebok site before i purchase the new Energy 4.
I have the 2 and 3 and will pick up the 4 at some point later in the year. Apart from an out and out race shoe reebok offer everything now. Dont overlook the symetros either I did 10miles in mine this morning 380miles in them now and they are still performing really well!
Just in from a 10km run. Nothing fancy, I average 5.25 a KM in pace and this was pretty flat pavement run. I have been running in the Pegasus 38 now for 170km coming from On Cloud Flows. I also use lock elastic laces. Last couple of runs (since switching to the lock laces) my right heal is killing me after a run and the top of the foot is also sore.
Cannot work out if the shoe isn't for me, the laces are causing issues or I just need to go to my local running shop and get on their treadmill for a proper shoe set up.
What do you runners think?
