2017 Lions Tour
Discussion
Just caught up with the 23...I think it has all been said. I think this side will ship more points than last week, and who exactly is going to make the breaks?
ABs with their tails up after a win will be rampant I fear. Ireland and England have shown how you beat this AB team in recent years - with ferocious intensity at the breakdown. I don't see this team performing any better in this regard than the one last weekend.
The geographical picks are going to go down as one of the classic blunders, just behind "don't get involved in a land war in Asia".

More specifically, I would add, making geographical picks and then not having the courage of your convictions to follow it through. If Gatland was so worried about devaluing the shirt that he'd planned all along not to play them then, logically, there's almost no difference between calling them up or calling up, say, Launchbury (who he seemed to suggest would have been to be limited use through jet lag but could presumably have managed to sit on a bench for 80 minutes and would at least have been worthy of the shirt). I'd say he had every intention of playing them but recoiled when he saw the backlash.
That flakiness is indicative of the wider problem and this tour has done lasting damage to the concept.
[we'll probably win now]

The biggest shock is Liam (i can't catch a high ball) Williams. It's going to piss down with rain, all blacks will kick to Liam, watch him fluff it and see the 2 new boys Naholo or Lienert-Brown score!

What they've picked in Lawes and Stander is probably the most impact they can hope to make off the bench in terms of ball carrying and the ability to hopefully clear out some rucks. I think they should have gone for a 6/2 split on the bench and really rolled the dice though. Had Henderson on the bench as well.

Huh. Catching is one of his strengths. They don't call him the bomb disposal expert for nothing Kaboom!
I can't see them going that route too frequently. They had the talent to break through a back line with just one 10 in it.

Apart from that, he had a good game though I thought.

20 + on us.
How they dropped Teo is mind boggling. I honestly think, and being Welsh this is hard to admit, that a full England outfit would have a better chance tomorrow.
Of course they would. How long have this England team and coaches been together? How they dropped Teo is mind boggling. I honestly think, and being Welsh this is hard to admit, that a full England outfit would have a better chance tomorrow.

Didn't Liam also get the first Loins Yellow Card, for taking out a player in the air?
Think it's a bit harsh two pick on a couple of mistakes Williams has made on tour when he has also made two of the most exciting counter attacking breaks of the series, one of which led directly a very memorable Lions try.
He's not perfect but if we are taking it to the ABs he is our best option.
