No issues with Garmin for me over the weekend. It's worth noting I use GPS + Galileo. If there was an issue with GPS but not Galileo, then that could explain why I was OK?
RE shin splints - stretching tibialis anterior will help but worth strengthening it too. As an aside, it could be footwear. My brother found he got shin pain when running in a pair of shoes, changed the shoes and it totally went away.
I will look up stretches and strengthening as I have no idea. I think the trainers are fine, they are fairly new and Iv had a few pairs previously and they have been okRE shin splints - stretching tibialis anterior will help but worth strengthening it too. Anyone doing the London Vitality Big Half this September? Signed up to and looking forward to. Been keeping base level of fitness since my marathon in April. Need to get the longer run mileage back up a bit.
Yeah was planning on doing Bristol half then the big half few weeks later but now thinking of doing the Atlantic coast challenge triple marathon so not sure now.Looks like Amazon are clearing out old stock of the Forerunner 245 Music via the so-called Prime Day:

I have the non-music version of this and it's fantastic - the battery life in particular.

Yeah I absolutely love my 245 Music. It will easily last for any activity I could plausibly do. Used as a regular watch I've seen three weeks battery life (tho I have phone notifications turned off). Garmin Pay is the only thing missing.https://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-010-02120-30-Watch...

I thought Garmin Pay was a gimmick I'd never use when I got my Fenix, but I use it all the time and now rarely take my wallet places. However word of warning to anyone thinking on pickup up a new watch in the sales, check your bank works with Garmin Pay. Santander definitely do but many don't, it's nowhere near as well supported as Android/apple pay.

Care to help? I use nationwide.
Download the Curve app on your phone and use that to set up the Garmin Pay details in Garmin Connect. The app is free and it uses whichever of your existing accounts you want it to to pay for stuff, so no need to keep a balance on the Curve card.
Works really well

Well, it's "only" a parkrun but I plan to do one tomorrow, which is actually a pretty big thing for me. It will be my first "event" since my brain tumour surgery. My target time is 17:59.99
I feel it should be doable. The only issue with going in with a target time is you might not actually reach your potential. I'll see how I feel after 3k and if I'm good then I can perhaps think about pushing on. It will at least give me a benchmark to work with. After this I will likely tailor my training towards 10k and cross country with a view to doing one either Sept 25th or one in December (or both!), and I plan to run in the county's cross country league through winter.

Noooo, that's doing it all wrong, always do a slow one your fist time so you can go and get a personal best the next week I feel it should be doable. My Parkrun PB is 16:58, so no chance of that ....not yet at least! Whether I can get that quick again I'm not sure, but I'm going to try!
Lex: 16:58 is flying round. You’re obviously a good athlete. I always find park run is worth 15 secs a k compared to running on my own. What’s your best recent 5k. Is it within a minute of 18? I’m asking if you’re being too ambitious … after serious surgery! Ps. I can only dream of 18m, but after a carp day at work I did knock 1m 1 sec off my best time on a 4.56km undulating segment that I use as a tester.
Good luck tomorrow!

I did a session 2 weeks ago which was 4x1 Mile with 75secs rest between and averaged 5:46/mile, then had 3mins after the 4th mile and did 1km in 3:17 (5:17/mile) before doing 4x30secs at around 4:40/mile. 18mins is 5:47/mile or so, so I think it should be feasible. That was a solo session.
Last week my speed session was 1M tempo (6:11/mile) and then 8x400m off 40secs rest and I did 5:14/mile average, then another 1M at 5:51 and then 4x30secs again.
And thanks will see how it goes! I'll either succeed or fail miserably
