The Snooker starts this weekend.

Probably one of the most open championships for a while.

Looking at how the bookies have priced things up, Higgins and Selby are favourites at 6/1 with Ronnie, Ding and Mark Williams in the group behind at 9/1.

Although I'd love to see him do it, I don't think Ronnie is in the correct frame of mind to take the title this year.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/snook...

On Thursday last week he wanted to pull out of the tournament only to change his mind a day later.

I don't have any time for players who are willing to throw matches for money so hoping Higgins doesn't get too far.

I reckon Ding or Selby will lift the trophy this year.

Any other snooker fans on here?

Thoroughly enjoyed the Robertson-Trump contest. The curse of the first time world champion has struck again. Well played Judd.

Mark Williams looks in decent touch too.

Ronnie starts off against Dale today - hope he's focussed on the job ahead.

Hendry scrapes into the second round (not quite sure how long he'll continue playing for) and Ronnie looked in great form as he opens up a lead against Dale.

Well the quarter final line up is complete.

Dott-Trump: Think Dott will win this one, he loves the longer matches.

Selby-Ding: Selby for me after his phenomenal performance against Hendry.

Ronnie-Higgins: too close to call but hope Ronnie hammers Higgins.

Williams-Allen: Williams for me.

Wow, was wrong about Dott/Trump. Trump 8-1 up now. What a performance. A semi final against Selby or Ding beckons.

Really hope Higgins goes out.

No respect for him now.
+1

I find it nauseating that the BBC amongst others still portray him as 'poor John who has been through a lot recently and has come back strong'. But very little mention of his corruption.

Anyway, Ronnie pulls two ahead smile

Well Ronnie threw that session away. Should have been going into the final session 10-6 or at the very least 9-7 up. But at 8-8 I think Higgins is now favourite.

edit - well Higgins beats Ronnie. Well deserved in the end.

Selby is out, had Ding on the ropes after winning 4 on the trot this evening then made some horrendous errors to let the Chinaman back into it.

So a semi final line up of:

Higgins-Williams and Trump-Ding.

Would like to see a Williams-Trump final but tbh it's very difficult to call either of these matches.

Yup poor session from Trump although hopefully that is his bad one out of the way. Still very much in this semi final.

Williams opening up a lead against Higgins here, 7-3 to the Welshman.

Amazing clearance by Ding to take the last frame before the mid session interval.

Well played Judd.

And it looks like John 'credit to the game/the family man/been through so much' Higgins is going to join him in the final. 15-13 up now.

John Higgins is strong favourite to lift the trophy on Monday which will be a disgrace given what he did 12 months ago. Caught on camera openly willing to throw frames from £s yet he's only given a token ban. Quinten Hann did the very same thing not too long ago and was banned by World Snooker for 6 years.

I don't think it will happen but I hope trump hammers the greedy, corrupt, 'wizard of wishaw'.

Higgins looks to be pulling ahead here.

Problem for Judd is that Higgins doesn't seem to have to play his A game for him to win frames whereas Judd struggles to win when playing bad.

Looked like Trump was about to go 6-4 behind but now he's 6-5 up. Hope he can keep this up.

Wow, what a shot to get his century. And that pink with his right hand.

It's like watching a player under practice settings - the arena does not faze him at all.

Judd needs to take this chance to make it 14-14 otherwise I fear his tournament is over.

Come on man, if there is any justice within sport then you'll beat this cheating scum-bag.
