My friend told me her brother spent over 20 mins chatting with a nice American woman on Friday and didn't even realise until afterwards that it was Sandra Bullock!

Excellent day yesterday, I also thought it seemed far busier than usual for the Friday. Back again tomorrow, with an earlier start in order to walk round the paddocks wile they are a bit quieter.

I agree with Hyperion. FoS is all about seeing the cars up-close. I try not to get in the way of anyone taking photos, and will walk behind them if possible, but I'm buggered if I'm going to stand dutifully 15 feet away from the cars all day so that the huge lens crowd can have their way. I like to get some photos myself, but taking in the cars and atmosphere is the priority for me, not getting flustered because others want to look round a car while I'm pointing a camera at it. I'll take a few shots very early in the day, or last thing, near close of play, when it's much quieter, but otherwise I'll be like Hyperion, sticking my head in engine bays and cockpits. That's the whole ethos of Goodwood. I see people so absorbed in photographing and videoing everything in sight that I think they never become fully immersed in the experience. I prefer to find a spot on the hill, sit back, chill and enjoy what I see and hear. I find the same applies to airshows, BTW.
I agree, I was with my youngest son (5)on the rally stage when a camera freak tutted when I cranked my head around to get a view of the jump while holding my son to see, when I looked around he asked me if I could keep still, if I did not have my son with me I would have told him where to stick his camera. Don't get me wrong, I think there are some talented people out there that take much better photos than I do, please carry on......just don't ask anyone to get out of your way!

A couple more, had them split up in facebook albums.

Had a good day on friday, was quite alot busier than we expected/hoped, but didnt let it spoil the day, didnt see everything. But the initial plan was to stay and come back on saturday, sadly my dads lack of planning meant he forgot his tablets, didnt realise while late, so a late night drive back up the M1 it was.

My first FOS and really enjoyed it.

Ended up with 797 photos whistle, but given that I'm new to this photgraphy stuff, hadn't done motorsport photgraphy before and had new lens, I'm quite pleased with some of the results.

My personal favourites are;

Although I would love to remove that stick....

Ace stuff. smile

I suppose my biggest story is when they first started up Senna's 97T in the pits. They couldn't get it runnign right all day. I'm not surprised as I was stood behind it at the time and it showered me in soot. I was wearing my Senns 'S' top at the time too. Should I ever wash it?

My first FoS as well. Great day out. Loads to do and talk about.

I took a few vids as well. No surprise to me that Timo Glock was showman of the day, on the Friday at least... smile

Lewis was "dissapointed" he didn't get to drive it. That's the end of Bruno Lallis' single seat career for the time being then. rofl

Did I really see Sean Connery in the Goodwood Park hotel Saturday morning ??

BTW had a great breakfast in the Spa/Health club part - good value, quiet and empty.

Great day yesterday, yet to get the pics off the camera but many thanks to the chap at the rally stages who gave me some great tips on how to get them in focus front on, which I was struggling with hehe

Hope the chap and his son in the purple 993 made it home okay - the engine started to munch on itself on the way there, covering my car in so much oil visibility was slightly problematic! Bumped into him in the tents later, not really sure his idea of "taking it easy" on the way home was going to succeed at the rate oil was exiting, not only burnt through the exhaust but unburnt coming out around the wheel as well!

I had an a brilliant weekend 1st time we've done the whole weekend, our group camped at the Goodwood Campsite (Gate 11), not only were there fantastic Cars all weekend but on Saurday night we even managed to rub shoulders with a few stars in the Goodwood Hotel.

To name a few, Jenson Button, Loeb, Chris Evans, Christian Horner, Sandra Bullock (although she just walked past) and then to top it off Troy Corser and his wife Sam (Both top people, very friendly) after coming back from the Ball about midnight had a few drinks with us until about 4am on Sunday Morning, with Troy picking up the bill. We woke up a few hours later and couldn't beleive the luck or night we had.

One for the Memory Bank.

Would love to have gone this as it's been a few years since my last visit and I always think it's best to maybe go once every 3-4 years as it gets to be a little repetitive year in year out.

Is it just me, but from the pics it looks like is was not crowded, or has it grown so big now that you don't have the problem of trying to see the hill climb with crowds getting 10 deep?

We went on the Saturday and had a superb day. These are a few from my stash...

Avoiding the traffic jams

Top of the hill

It's a WHAT??

Bulbus

Glorious

Crowded

Refreshing

Lovely!

Slidey

Gorgeous

There were 12 !

Great shots from this

Superb!

How pointless is this roll hoop?!

Empty

Taxi!

Traffic getting out was awful

And there we go!

The helicopter service was fantastic - about 12 minutes to/from the Godalming area. A treat rather than a regular way to travel, but it really was brilliant!

The lesson I learnt was if you get carried away pootling around and somehow end up walking up the hill, and your wife is dressed in a posh frock and heels (Kinrara), she will become (justifiably!) extremely pissed off with you! This increases with altitude up the hill, ambient temperature increasing and extra quantities of dust! Mmm... still paying for that one.

Helicopter definately the way to go!

Didn't go this year, but if we do go again, how does the helicopter work when you leave, I assume you pre-book a time? How much did it cost you to Godalming all-in?

Well I went on Sunday (my first time) and I was blown away by it all. The sheer scale of the thing was amazing and everyone there was obviously enjoying it, especially the drivers. Such a great way to spend the day! While I have literally hundreds of photos from the day I wont bother posting most of them beacuse others have already posted far better quality of the same thing. However I do have something to share. I was parked in the VIP car park and was treated to this beauty. I know JK has just had his delivered so unless anyone can enlighten me I think it could well be his.

I know there was one in the Supercar area but for me seeing it in the car park made it seem more like a real 'spot'.

Yes, we had booked a slot each way. They have a number of aircraft of different sizes doing a number of runs and they book each seat on each aircraft on each run. The contract terms say if you miss your slot they will endeavour to put you on another, but can't guarantee. They have a very nice waiting area with complimentary everything so if you turn up early you're not waiting in nasty place.

Cost was £230 per person return. That includes the car shuttle to / from the VIP drop off (which goes through closed roads & back routes).

You must've been right near me in the Kinrara judging by the photos position.
