This summed it up for me in one photo: BMW's year, cool cars, great close up access, rain.

I know they're silly money and not everyones cup of tea, but I really like those Lagondas.

Anyway, took the family today, so not much photography going on, those I did take are added here, including a couple from the top of the Big Wheel...

On Thursday the Gurney-Nutting bodied Phantom III in the Style et Luxe wore a normal Spirit. By the Sunday it had magically transformed into a Lalique Chrysis. Lovely! And just to prove the sun did actually come out, however briefly...

I saw that too an enjoyed it, but couldn't help wondering whether it was a genuine Lalique or a modern repro (I know some modern reproductions of Chrysis are around). I hope it was genuine, but it's a braver person than me who'd leave such a fragile item (which could easily be broken/stolen) on display like that!

Still working my way through my photos I took. 24-70 is too short for the course so next year I'll take something longer. Also seemed to get caught out on where I was standing and always had 'busy' backgrounds. Attempting to blur them out even more but cutting out cars is long and boring...

Anyway, here's one I've almost finished.

And my favourite car of the day, the Vulcan!

I went on the Friday & i wasn't disapointed. Shame i spent more time looking at the manufactures stands & the Supercar paddock then watching the action on the hill.

Oh well, that's something to sort out next year, till then here's my pics.

I don't know, to be honest, and I guess the only way to find out would be to unscrew it and see what the signature's like underneath. To be fair, while I was getting as close as I dared to get photos, one of the flunkies was watching me carefully to make sure I didn't get too close. THey unscrewed all the mascots overnight for safety as well. When we got there at just after seven and the cars were still being cleaned/dried they all just had bare radiator caps. Even the litte Vauxhalls

Finally finished my photos. For those who dedicate time to purely shooting I can't recommend the top of the hill enough. On Friday this year it was absurdly quiet, positions right up against the rope all day long, and often so quiet I was the only person in the area.

You also get two bites at the cherry, as the light when they come back down through the trees is stunning

Goodwood FoS 2016 by Chris Harrison, on Flickr

I've spent the last 4 years in the same spot on the Friday, unfortunately they've closed off the opposite side now which was better for panning up the hill, but it's still, in my opinion, by far the most relaxing area of the whole climb (and generally speaking, only the real enthusiasts climb that far) and the nearest thing to the feeling of what it was like to be there 8+ years ago.
