Anecdotal I know but of the 10 or so GRRC members I know socially; two have not renewed, including myself, two wavered and renewed at the last minute, four have more than enough money that it makes no difference and the last two are emotionally attached. That's the percentage right there.

I debated for a while about renewing and now fall in the “give it one more year” camp. Have been a member for ten years after a two year wait. It’s definitely not what it used to be so will see how 2024 pans out.

As there are several Members on this thread can I ask if any of you experienced the bug in the online ticketing website where you get a spurious error message when you try to pay? This is regardless of what card you try to use, and also, regardless of having cleared the cache and deleted 'saved cards' from the site. Goodwood's is the only site I have this issue.

I have raised it with the GRRC and Goodwood 'webmaster'. I didn't get a response from the 'webmaster' email address and the GRRC said it was due to the load on the system at peak times. This is clearly not the case because it is a constant bug even when trying to order tickets for something small at a non-busy time. When I raise it people tell me to just phone the ticket office, which is fine, but that's not the answer to correcting a serious bug in the online ticketing system.

Just curious who else gets this?

I seem to remember getting this in the past. Most frustrating. I tried with different cards too. I seem to remember coming back later worked. No good if you are up against a deadline and the ticket office is shut.

This has been a known problem for years yet the estate do nothing about it. Pay peanuts get monkeys.

I prefer to use a credit card online for various reasons but goodwood I have always had to use debit as I experience the same issue you talk about.

I get the bug with a debit card and credit card and with my wife's debit card or credit card. So the type of cards not the cause.

Try different browsers or paying via your phone. Has worked for me in the past.

Rather than trying to find a 'workaround' I'm trying to get a feel for how many people are affected and then I'll badger Goodwood Ticketing again to implement the necessary bug fix.

p.s. Doesn't work using their website on my Android phone either, (if that's what you mean by pay via your phone) I tried that.

Yeah, I've been a member for close on 25 years too but this bug has only been around for the last couple of years.

Never had a problem with cards online in the last 15 years or so, and no problem this year as I didn't renew.

I've experienced it once or twice. I can't think of a website on the planet that doesn't have the odd bug. Amazon, ebay, my bank are all down occasionally As you've seen, some others have no problems at all so the problem may be at your end.

Whilst I’d normally agree the amount of people that do report issues with the Goodwood site I’d point to the issue being theirs and not the user.

Since mentioning it several people on this thread have experienced the issue and I assure you it's Goodwood's issue not mine. E.g. when trying to purchase Revival tickets I had the error message, using my wife's PC and debit card I tried again and got the same error - different person, card, PC etc. All that was the same was the IP address. I even tried using the ticketing web site on my mobile, via 4G and got the same error wink
I'll try chasing Goodwood again.

To be fair, I think that is actually normal.
The official cut-off is the end of the membership year, but the window is extended as a last time offer to the end of Jan.

I would be really interested to find out what the actual figures of not yet renewing are.
My cross post of someone else's posting on the GRRC forum doesn't have any replies. I have no idea if that 20% figure was made up by that poster - though it did seem it was posted with some sort of 'authority' rather than off the top of his head.

Letters have gone out to non-renewers and today emails have gone out too.

There is one person on here who - with the new openness of confirming the membership numbers - could confirm the non-renewal figures.
To be fair to Sarah, she is caught in the middle and probably not able to say that.

I just got the email and as a previous full member of > 10 years good standing was offered a 25% discount and free tickets to the members meeting this year if I were to reconsider my cancelation.

So, they will have just annoyed those that did renew that had been members for 10+ years!

Probably end up costing them more than just keeping the free Thursday tickets..... should have just changed the free tickets to those that had been members for x years?
