Really? Why would they offer this when they have a waiting list of people to replace you.

It might have been a joke, Its not what my email said and I've been a member much longer than 10 years.

If this is the case then it seems like a really effective way of further upsetting those who have renewed as full members. confused

Goodwood still have not got through their backlog of emails before Christmas and have not responded to me as requested. I know they received my email as otherwise, I would not have got their out of office auto response saying back in January. Sarah, if you see this, my email has the subject "Erosion of benefits" It has my contact details within and if it not too much trouble for anyone, a call or some form response would be appreciated. Thank you.

Like others, I have received an extension to renew my membership until the end of January though. No offer of discounts or free tickets.

I thought I was a 10 year member - found a first membership order in my email inbox for 17th December 2013 after joining the wait list in Feb 2012 .

Also, I found some orders for 2 revival tickets in Aug 2013 £76 for TWO tickets up from £72 in 2011. Those joyful days of small price increases and smaller crowds.

You’ll be better off just leaving.

I'm afraid I don't know what that is? Do feel free to email me or the GRRC team if you have a question.
Best wishes,
Sarah

Sorry I must have been dreaming about what I would do in my business if I were Goodwood and potentially losing some of the oldest and most loyal members/customers due to taking them for granted for too long.

I would make a very real effort to persuade them to stay with a significant statement of intent to improve things for the better going forward and an immediate and tangible special offer to demonstrate that fact.

Apologies for the confusion.

Dear Hedgedhog,

Were we to offer those who had not renewed their membership such an incentive to do so, it would seem extremely unfair to everyone who had renewed for 2024.

With best wishes,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

any comment on the Goodwood 2000?

smile
Sorry Sarah, I was teasing a bit.

There is a guy on the GRRC forum, 'Nick' who claims that 20% haven't renewed, and from the current membership that would be around 2000 people.

In reality I guess you can't comment on that.
Despite my whinging - I am really 'for' the club and want to work towards making it better. It just seems an uphill battle.

Hi Sarah, I agree with you which is why I would extend the free Members Meeting ticket offer to all members as a magnanimous show of appreciation for their support over the past few years, their understanding over some of the badly chosen words recently published and to further differentiate between fellows and members.

For what it is worth, a small gesture of that nature would probably be enough to change my mind.

I genuinly expected something positive to be in the Christmas address.
Several people on here spent some considerable time in the background with giving feedback to the club with a view to putting things 'right'.
Unfortunately, that opportunity seems to have been missed.

Message for Sarahgoodwood.
Are your team ever going to get through your list of emails received and, as novel as this might seem, respond to them?

You have emailed me to extend the period that I can renew my membership and today, something has been received in the post at home with the same offer.

The GRRC isn’t a club for members with an elected committee
It’s just become a cashcow for Lord March

Your ever increasing membership fee, just gives you an invitation to buy even more expensive tickets, the benefits get taken away slowly each year

And lord march looks forward to you leaving as there’s a waiting list, who as well as replacing your annual subscription, also pays a joining fee,

So the lord always wins

Your best option is just to not renew.

I emailed back in November to say I had cancelled my direct debit and I got the template reply saying I had until the end of the year to change my mind. I haven't had anything from the GRRC since. My access to the forum stopped on 1st January and there is no option for me to renew on the Goodwood website. I also see I have been removed from the Facebook group.

I wonder how they decided who gets a letter and a January extension? Perhaps there was a ballot. smile

Silence is very telling Sarahgoodwood. I will persist in following up. Perhaps Goodwood should do the same for its membership?

Dear all,

I do apologise if there has been a delay in responding to your emails to the GRRC team: I can assure you that the team do work hard to respond to the many messages they receive. You may prefer to telephone the office on 01243 755057, or do email again.

If you have told us previously that you wish to cancel your GRRC membership, we do remove you from our mailing lists so that we do not keep bothering you - Ian, if you have reconsidered and would like to renew, do please contact the GRRC team, or email me.

If I am not responding to messages on here, I can assure you that it is not for any sinister reason - it's simply many tasks taking up my attention! I would always suggest contacting us directly - either via the Ticket Office or the GRRC team if you have any questions at all about your GRRC membership, rather than relying on my logging on to monitor this forum.

With best wishes,
Sarah
