Haven’t been for a few years, going to the members meeting instead, as the crowds at the revival have grown and grown. Still the best carpark in the world, still fantastic racing and still a lack of a quiet spot for GRRC members to escape the crowds. The GRRC food tent was so hot this year I had to leave after 5 minutes.

6th revival in a row for me.

I also felt it was a bit flat. Seeing the same "recreation" 3 times in 3 days got a bit old, and I wasn't really interested in the military parade either. Combined with all the military uniforms it's all a bit too patriotic somehow, especially with Brexit going on. Nobody ever dresses up as someone who's just back from the war and lost an arm or a leg or has shell shock, do they.

I also hated the constant drivel they have blasted through the speakers between races.. it's like they're scared to leave a few minutes silence at any point.
Toilets at Lavante had been downsized this year too!

But I loved the racing, especially seeing the pre-war Bentleys, the MK1 Jags vs Cobras vs Austins, Tom Kristenssen going from last to third... and the standard of driving seemed to be even higher than last year, very little contact but very competitive. Impressive and wonderful to watch.

Agree re improved driving standards this year, maybe just a coincidence that all the bumper car guys were at Knockhill this weekend.

We made a flying visit on the Friday morning (to deliver some parts and offer some support). It was absolutely buzzing as normal for the revival with many, many people making a serious effort with outfits and some incredible kit on display.

From a slightly different perspective what I always find amazing is the level of support and friendliness by all of the staff to those working the weekend rather than there for fun. They genuinely go out of their way to get you to the places you need to be, try their hardest not to be an obstruction and are consistently friendly, endearing, polite and happy to help. Compare this to the "security" at many major race series/circuits now that treat the majority of those supporting the weekends activities with disdain at best, yes it's a running joke within the industry, but it doesn't make it any more acceptable.

Any of the Goodwood events are a wonderful working environment for competitors and their team members and the Goodwood staff play a huge part in this and are a credit to Goodwood. Long may it continue.

Hear hear - I only have recent experience of the MM , but especially in the Arctic event of 2018 their customer care , dedication and helpfulness were all exemplary . To be fair, I also find the staff at MSV circuits good too , but Croft's security staff , at least until recently , were utterly appalling -and they often out numbered the crowd. Petty , rude and totally unnecessary - I half expected a barked 'Papers please!' and brown shirts ....

I went for the 1st time yesterday courtesy of PH free tickets (Thank you)

I thoroughly enjoyed it, the weather was hot and sunny all day, how some of the guys must of felt in a shirt, tie, waistcoat and jacket god knows as I was sweltering in a short sleeved shirt.

I thought the racing was great and you could get close to the track or sit/stand on the banking for a great view.

It was a shame to read on my FB feed this morning that 6 cars have been disqualified from the 1st St Mary's Trophy race including the winner, one chap saying he raced in 2001 with a lap time of 1.49 (he came 4th) the winners are now 14 seconds faster.

I would certainly go again, it would be easy to grumble at how much a coffee and burger cost there but that is the same for all these types of events and to be expected.
I hadn’t seen that but just had a look some big names disqualified. (And 7 in total now!)
The commentator mentioned roller rockers as being a common factor - it seems to be a case of 'win at all costs'.

I would certainly echo these comments 100% - I was lucky enough to hire the circuit for the August bank Holiday Sunday to host a charity Mini event, and the events/track team at Goodwood were an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish.

On the subject of this years Revival, I honestly thought it was the best one I've ever been to. We only did the Sunday this year, as my birthday was on the Saturday, but with a good plan, I think we got around most of it. Paddocks, infield, Earls Court in the morning, then took our grandstand seats for the TT and St. Mary's, then did a lot of the shopping areas on our way back out.

The Italian Job display in the Earls Court building was fantastic, and where I think most of the 'actors' were hiding. The Beatles Mini display was another notable great addition.

With the MM, Revival is still the highlight of my car event calendar.

The downside of the dress "code" was the number of muppets in fancy dress military uniforms. Minimal effort, looked ridiculous and a tiny bit Walty.

I apologise profusely for offending your eyes and promise never ever to wear a Sailor's square rig uniform to Goodwood again and that I should have gone to the massive effort of finding a check shirt, braces and flat cap (a la Peaky Blinders) in Primark that would have made me the "right stuff" wink

You should be very careful though about assuming that everyone having a bit of fun wearing a uniform was a Walt though and that some had actually in some time in their life actually earned the right........

On a serious note though having studiously avoided the Revival despite going to Goodwood since well before the early 90's makeover I came away very impressed with the whole event. The racing, the atmosphere, the set up and the staff/organisation running the event were excellent...we'll definitely be back.

There were liberal bkings dished out, after a couple of expensive contretemps in the last couple of years, too many bkings, for a driver, means no invite back. The only piece of really poor driving, I witnessed this year, was the punt into the chicane. Oddly, the thing I liked the most this year, wasn’t actually even a car, it was this.

Which is in fact this.

A boat, with a ( highly modified ) Ferrari engine.
It’s yours, for a mere 20 million quid, if you want it as well lick

I've still not come down yet after Friday, the number and variety of classics in the car park was wonderful, here are a few examples...

The car park outside the event is probably the best car show I go to every year, without the added bonus of the Revival element

My mate who I met up with on Friday was using his old 35mm camera, he ran out of film in the car park! Some more from me...

Lenham hardtopped 'B', rather nice and slightly different to the norm I thought...

True, that. I spent a good while wandering around at the end of the day....would have spent longer but Mrs da Greek was getting grumpy.

funnily enough, my vulgar Japanese wankel (snigger) was relegated to the Members parking bit (becos not pre-tax), and the marshal joked that it seemed harsh given that you wouldn't be seeing another one. And he was right, funnily enough. The thought stuck in my head all day, and maybe it made me notice just how many of certain classics seemed to be there in (comparatively) huge numbers; there were into double figures of Citroen DSs, for example, and genuinely entire phalanxes of 911s. The only other cars there were only one example of were obscure Ferraris, the lone Ghibli and the like... and a Bitter CD, which to be honest made my day because you really don't see them very often.

Oddly, if my Beetle engine was built, I'd have been in that because it's pre-tax. But there were loads of Beetles and I was perversely glad to be the only RX-7 in the place confused Am I weird?

I must have missed the Ghibli Nik... bugger!

Only saw one Marcos GT, but for some reason didn't take a photo. I came within a whisker of buying another Mk2 Cooper yesterday, there's definitely something in the air... wink

I had to firmly keep my wallet in my pocket yesterday, so many lovely Minis about, and nice to chat to a few owners of the parade cars near the old control tower café.

When leaving yesterday I text the OH, and said I'd left some beers in the 'green Mini' on the drive, and could they possibly find their way to the fridge before my return. The reply came back with "Which green Mini, there's three of them out there." getmecoat

One thing I would note is a higher than usual overseas visitor count, based on the number of languages I overheard on the day. I chatted to a lovely French couple in the tax-exempt car park who'd arrived in a pair of French-made Vespa 400 cars. I'd never seen one before, let alone a pair together.
