We went for both days and will return provided that it does not become crowded to the extent of FoS & Revival. Food prices not too bad although we took a picnic for Saturday and our own fizzy for this morning.
Atmosphere in the hall last night was great and seeing LM and various celebs just sharing the event with everyone was nice to see. Chris Evans being a petrol head in the paddock this morning summed it up.
Best moment (apart from group B, the LM cars and turbo 1 - how carefully would you take it?) - the grannies on shopping trollies.
Most pointless - supercharged Defender on 22" wheels. What does that have to do with Goodwood?

James and the Goodwood team, thank you for a fantastic event.
What a great weekend, we competed and spectated and loved every second of it. Highlights of the weekend? Of course our blinding drive in the Moss Trophy (!) but also the Bugatti race, the space in the paddocks (and everywhere), the Great Hall and the atmosphere.
For those fed up with the 'elitist' attitude at FoS and Revival, all drivers including Stirling Moss and Lord March ate in the Great Hall with the rest of us. On Saturday evening both James and Lord March went up and down the queues at the bar and food hatches advising us what was left and where we could go for alternatives.
For those of you that had the chance and turned it down, I'm sorry to say you missed something special.

Anyway, it was still great fun.
Judging by waistlines, I think some were more drivers and others were owner - drivers. Anyway, it was still great fun.

I think the front 4 cars were driven by younger pro drivers and the rest of them were driven by their older owners, who I assume pick up the bill when it goes pop. Anyway, it was still great fun.
What a completely astonishing weekend.
My ONLY gripe was the food situation. It just didn't feel like the catering was set up to deal with the numbers of people. Closing the top Marquee with the Cock & Bull and Fish and Chip place before dinner on Saturday was the main mistake. Lot's of people sat on the floor in the great hall!
- Fantastic racing.
- Much better 'general access' viewing areas than Revival.
- Gerry Marshall Trophy was amazing and everyone loved it!
- Not over-crowded (please don't ruin it!).
- Comedy food prices are to be expected but not appreciated.
- Group B a bit underwhelming.

I think they'll have no trouble selling to the GRRC next year - I know there were quite a lot of people there who were invited to buy tickets, but who weren't members (good luck to them, I reckon). Maybe the plan for this event is to add so much more value to GRRC membership, that the waiting list gets ever longer and the prices go up... so guaranteeing thousands of members at £500 a year or whatever. Smart business by the Goodwood Estate, even if it ends up causing a few complaints.
I think it's probably more a case of innovate or evaporate. I tend to be a wait and see type of person with any new events. It sounds like this could well be a winner, with a few tweeks here and there.
