Goodwood revival 2022

Went to the revival today - straight in and straight out without a single queue (and didn’t have any special tickets - just public parking). Really well organised despite the horror stories of yesterday.
Didn't realise there were horror stories from yesterday. I had a great day.
We went on Friday. Traffic in and out was bad. We left about 1630 so probably the worst time with normal rush hour Friday traffic too. But the car park Marshall’s were just unorganised. Also we found it to be so busy in the actual event. Always found Friday to be quite manageable, but this year it felt chaotic. Think having a toddler in tow made it more challenging for us so it may have been just that

I was watching some of the stream on YT and actually thought that there didn’t seem to be many people there and I might consider going for the Friday next year… sounds like that may not be a good plan then.jimboy2 said:

The same amount of tickets are sold for all 3 days (people on here always suggest it’s quieter but I beg to differ) however after a couple of years of interruption and a cautious event last year demand is clearly back, tickets seemed to sell out sooner and where normally I’d pick up extra tickets last minute for £20 there was nothing this year that wasn’t far off list as tickets few and far between. Plus taking a toddler to an overcrowded, noisy dusty environment would never be my idea of fun. I did see a baby in the beer tent at 8pm last night and no ear defenders at the very least!
We've been in previous years with the kids but they're older than toddlers, primary school age...
I bagged a last minute ticket for yesterday to meet a friend for lunch, no drama's getting in or out - but I left about 4pm. So I'd suggest before 4 or after 6pm... Plenty of food places to have a bite and wait it out.
Also, anecdotally, there seemed to be a lot of Europeans visiting, lots of French and German accents! Just not noticed this in previous years?
Also, I don't know how people can drink all day, loads of beer, cham, wine... They can't all be camping and clearly not driving... I think I noticed that more this year but maybe because I was without the clan.

Been watching the stream this afternoon and it reinforced my opinion that Goodwood are pretty hopeless at dealing with incidents, somehow there never seems to be any sense of urgency. Previous race it took 4 or 5 laps to get a stranded car off the grid, and in the last race a similar time to clear two cars that had parked up on the outside.

I was there yesterday and mentioned to my buddy that there seemed to be a lot of Germans and French there, not surprised I haven’t been to anything in Europe that compares.I bagged a last minute ticket for yesterday to meet a friend for lunch, no drama's getting in or out - but I left about 4pm. Daren’t say anything critical about the Orange Army mind.shoestring7 said:
That Red Bull jag that was suddenly four seconds a lap faster than the field in the TT Celebration; a bit of Newey ‘magic’,…?
I thought (possibly imagined) that the Newey E-type had been banned from the Revival in past years. I think there had been modifications that were "not in the spirit". Maybe this is a different car.shoestring7 said:

It was much quicker than anything else with Jenson driving but it broke down the second he got out of it so probably not the best advert (It broke down right in front of where I was standing actually! They did try to move it but it was stuck in gear I think so they just gave up and left it there)
