Did pastrana have some kind of in camera deal he made goodwood use?
I noticed in practice yesterday and today. His whole run was just an in cam shot of him, You didnt see the car going up the hill at all and it cut cameras every second it was impossible to follow.
Dumbest thing ive seen in a while.
It was daft wasn’t it? He lost time in the middle sector that destroyed his Shootout run- it would have been nice to have seen what it was due to. Maybe the thumbs-up and general reacting reacting to the in-car camera distracted him- so much for being ‘the epitome of concentration’ or such like that was in the big build-up to the run. Excellent coverage via streaming on YouTube though and (from what I saw) it was pleasingly free of continual repeating of the same adverts which seems to plague the Revival coverage all weekend (… not that it’s really an issue, given it is broadcast free and usually of excellent quality).I noticed in practice yesterday and today. No you won’t.
Why's that?I thought we were allowed to buy tickets for others?
Edited to add:
Ahh I see they're all sold out now, when I checked the other day I could have sworn they still had some available on the Saturday.

Live stream was great but I bet I wasn't the only regular attender of speed hilclimbs to regret that none of the specialist hillclimb single seaters such as Goulds etc are seen at Goodwood . They make even stuff like the (very impressive) Skyline look pedestrian and not in a million years would you see a 30 year old Escort Cosworth in the top ten !

I wouldn’t trust the BBC forecast as far as I could throw it. I always listen to a long range forecast, that a farmer friend of mine pays a fair bit for. It’s never got it wrong in all the years I’ve been going, it says steady rain all weekend, with a lively storm on Sunday at about midday. Even the crappy BBC forecast says rain leading up to the weekend, meaning it will almost certainly be a mud bath.
I hope your farmer friend manages to get a refund.Edited by 98elise on Monday 12th July 13:10

It’s discussed every year in depth. ch37 said:

Just want to point out to all those that arrived at 6/7.00am to avoid the queues
The main benefit is the wonderfully quiet paddocks at 7am - 8:30am ish, my favourite couple of hours of each year visiting Goodwood. Only downside of yesterday was that one day isn't enough to get to see everything. The rally stage, for example - soaking wet and ice-rink slippy in the morning meant the drivers were taking it very easy. Would have loved to have gone back in the afternoon when it had dried out, but there's only so many hours in a day.
Roll on 2022.

As already said, this is always discussed, I'm quite surprised Scott Moran hasn't had a call up having won so many championships. Whether or not a Gould V8 could get close to the VW ID.R time is another matter, I'm not sure it would. Nice article here by Classic Driver on the 4 day event.....

Me and the Kids (8 and 10) has a great time yesterday. At one point we had the Gas motorbike display going on in front of us (which was seriously impressive) while the Red arrows was doing a display in valley behind us...magic stuff
The Red Arrows were superb as always, even with one of the nine missing through illness.I did think the FOS commentary for the next batch of cars up the hill could have waited until the Red Arrows had finished their display, though - I was enjoying listening to Red 10 and the live feed from Red 1. 'Break leeeeeeefffffftttttt.'

I think it probably would - they had a contemporary hillclimb car in 2003 when they had a class to celebrate an anniversary. Graeme Wight Jr was very quick (42.9) but the car was completely undergeared. The current cars are meaningfully more rapid (160+ over the finish line at Gurston!) that I''m sure an appropriately set up car with the right driver would be properly scorching. The concern might be around the actual terminal velocity that could be achieved before molecomb and at the top of the hill.
Quite possible. GW Jr's Gould had around 450bhp from its V6 all those year's ago, the modern V8s have around 700bhp. I can image 160mph + over the finish line at Goodwood, they do that at Shelsley. darren f said:

From the inside and outside shots that were seen it looked like he lost the time into Molecomb and got a bit sideways through the Flint Wall. Pretty much a limitation of the car, it is softly sprung and on squishy tyres, pretty much gravel spec, built for sliding around and jumping. It just doesn’t have the body control that the proper race cars do.
I think for it only to be a second off winning is incredible given the all rounder that it is.

Quite a lot higher possibly! GW Jr used to be about 140ish over the finish line at Gurston - I haven't followed hillclimbing for a few years but I was genuinely staggered that they're 160+ there now. If anyone hasn't been, the FOS hill is like Indianapolis in comparison!RB Will said:

This. The Subaru is set up for jumps too and on rally tyres, it was rolling around. He lost time at the flint wall with a sideways slip. Compare to Olly Clark's Gobstopper which was track tuned, similar power and a fair bit quicker. Edit: didn't stop Rod Millen doing a 45 second run in his old Tacoma with off road tyres and wallowy suspension!
