Just a heads up re ground conditions at Goodwood
Discussion
I feel like i survived rather than left the FoS today I have now actually got* trench foot and my feet have wrinkled themselves irredeemably into the shape my socks took on. Disgusting but true.
The exhibitor's field is by far the worst (because it's errrrm... a field) and is liquid mud in quite a few places. The bottom end towards the start straight is worst. The paddicks are OK cos of being hardstanding. If it rains any more, it'll be grim. Properly grim! On the plus side, I managed to get a light, RWD RX-7 which needs revving to 3000 rpm to get into motion out of the car park, albeit with a fair amount of sliding all over the bloody place like a tit (unintentionally). Weather forecast is firm on dry weather tomorrow to begin, though rain might creep in later. Hopefully it'll be light rather than the rubbish we had the last few days
* actually not got. That was an exagerration. But they're pretty minging

This is an idea of what the show field ends up with; this is some of the metal flooring after the clowns with their stupid golf buggies have dragged mud all over the metal and then it's been diluted by rain and churned up by a million feets. It's about as slippery as iceskating on hagfish slime
and it will get tracked up all your clothes and gear. Fortunately it could be seen as adequate discouragement to avoid going and paying Goodwood Tax on horrifically overpriced acoutrements and apparel designed for the Tarquin or Jocasta about town

Left this afternoon around 3pm fully expecting to be the butt of the usual jokes as I wrestled fruitlessly with the mud in a rear wheel drive BMW. In the event , use of Eco-pro mode to dull the throttle response worked fine, and I did have a little smile as I watched a Freelander spinning its front wheels only and going nowhere in some particularly gooey stuff... they should have bought a proper Land Rover!
Campsite E is a mess with abandoned campers blocking the side routes, the main route in the electric area is meshed so passable. Hopefully tomorrow's dry weather will assist but if it rains anymore it won't be fun. The route to toilets and showers is also mess, wellys required. Shuttle bus stopped running after it got stuck in car park A.
In the car parks any route that gets heavy traffic are also a mush.
I would recommend boots for the show ground.

I just found out I need to drop lady targs at Heathrow at 7pm. Thinking of leaving at 3:30, is there usually an exit rush that early? Which would be the best route to take? Thanks.
I been going for years and normally head off about then. The only issue I've had is finding the bloody car Its always been dry though.
Car Park A is just about ok at the moment aside from a few idiots tearing it up. Low slung stuff is still parking up ok. Walk from A to Moving Motorshow entrance is fine, mostly on walkway which isn't slippy right now.
Foot queue at entrance way, way down on previous years at this time of the morning.

Quietest I've ever known it here, up at the last viewing point and literally nobody else here. Virtually had the supercar paddock to myself at 7am this morning.
A warning for those that like to walk up the paddock side of the hill, it just stops at crossing point 8, very frustrating! Had to walk back down and up the exhibitor side to the top.
