Not a bad day today, despite the rain, good overall event and well managed. But.... you can feel the icy touch on the shoulder of the EV cars that manufacturers are now pushing onto the public.
That is a real shame to hear(excuse the pun) at somewhere like Goodwood for sure. cerb4.5lee said:

That is a real shame to hear(excuse the pun) at somewhere like Goodwood for sure. Four of us going tomorrow.
What is the shuttle bus like from the train station? I am thinking it will be stuck in traffic like everything else.
We are staying in Littlehampton so might just make an early start in the car instead and get there for 7:15.
Any advice on which car park to head for (i.e. a good route to approach from) most appreciated.

No idea on the bus but if you leave Littlehampton at 0645 you won't have any problems with traffic. Just go through Barnham, join the A27 west bound and you're only a mile from the Goodwood exit just after the Tangmere roundabout. Just follow the signs - there are no closer car parks. What is the shuttle bus like from the train station? I am thinking it will be stuck in traffic like everything else.

Had a great day on Thursday opening day arrived on site for 730 booked performance east parking this year for the first time I must say it was well worth it parking right next to the start line no queues getting in took also my son for his 1st Goodwood and he really enjoyed the experience. Only criticism I would say is they could definitely do with more loos onsite especially for how many people attend this event

Just got an ominous text message from Goodwood saying monitor their social media channels before travelling tomorrow. Not much use for a 5:30 am start.
Yes, just what I was thinking. I usually drive (I did today), but am going by train tomorrow as my wife & daughter will need the car. £55 to get from Hertfordshire to Chichester (leaving at 05:17) which I've already paid. I really don't know what to do now.jmwalkeruk said:

Just got home. Took about 75 mins from Waterlooville this morning, so wasn’t too bad. We left around 0700. Getting out was easy, we left at 1500 when the rain started again.
Leaving at 7 I’d have expected it to take 30min, guessing all of us preaching get there early has now made arriving early even busy! Talking to one of the guys displaying today, they’re pretty worried that the tented retail areas and even some of the stands, aren’t rated for the winds that may be due tomorrow.
I’m only staying 20 mins away so i’m reasonably lucky that I can leave a decision until the last minute. I hope they’ll make some sort of decision 20 mins before it opens.

For those that did not get a text from Goodwood re: Tomorrow:
'An important message from the Festival of Speed organisers. We are monitoring the adverse weather warnings forecasted for tomorrow (Saturday 15 July). Please keep an eye on our social media channels and website for further updates and check before you travel.'

Anecdotally only the Lotus and BMW stands had any really exciting ICE cars on display (even the Caterham one had an EV parked outside!). Most like Ford (apart from an Explorer) were doing a good impression of the fridge freezer section at Curries, selling a range of appliances with four wheels. A shame really as the maker display stands were always a highlight of Goodwood. I understand the EV is here, and ICEs will be out new by 2030, but that is still 7 years away, can't some of these manufacturers try and make things exciting until then...?
Lots of anti EV threads already but lets not forget the fastest car up the Goodwood hill is an EV.Gassing Station | Goodwood Events | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
