Arrived this morning and will be here all weekend as usual.
Managed to get a sneaky practice run up the hill in a Defender 130 V8. Fantastic car to waft down from home in and perfect for ferrying eight of us into site each day.
Wednesday is always a hive of activity with cars arriving, stands bring finished and staff being briefed. Fork lifts, lorries and other vehicles everywhere so need to be very careful around the site, but a great chance to see stuff up close before it gets busy.

A very sad decision but the only correct one.
50mph winds will do a lot of damage and there are a lot of temporary structures that won’t be rated /insured for >50mph gusts.. You really don’t want to be hit by anything travelling at that sort of speed.
Very strange for all the staff as well as paying visitors. Bar Rosso at Butlin’s remained packed until closing time, and the Bognor McDonalds is going to be rammed for breakfast!
Hopefully there will be enough stands and cars left for a great day on Sunday…

Bar Rosso was absolutely heaving last night with the various OEM stand staff and stayed open until midnight. We used to do breakfast there but it’s much easier to get to Goodwood earlier and eat there.
Very strange day today. Went for a very bracing walk along the seafront first thing before a MacDonald’s breakfast then back to spend a couple of hours in the arcades at Butlin’s.
We then went over to Chichester to watch Mission Impossible. Suspension of disbelief required but a pretty good film overall. The car park isn’t well suited to the Defender 130 V8 though. I backed in as far as I could…
.
Still extremely windy here. None of the outside activities opened today
Arrived on site a while ago and our stand survived intact.
The team blocked up the front entrance and that seems to have done the job. They were back on site at 4am to return things to normal
Walking round the site there are a few signs of damage but everything and more importantly everybody seem to have survived.
