Copied from the other thread for the time being. Just got my Thomson seat post this morning and am planning to head out to play tomorrow. If I take a camera, rather than just the iPhone, I'll probably be back with better pictures.

I've not stopped to take any other pictures recently. This was on my commute.

No pictures just a word of warning.

After enjoying the snow I decided to stretch my legs the following day and ride to work. I didn't anticipate the black ice and now have a broken femural neck, its been screwed and plated but I won't be out on the bike again before April!

Keep the pictures coming as I need something to lift my spirits.

This is from a few years ago now, one very shiny Trek. No, I no longer have a seat bag like that, or ride with the pump in such a stupid place, with a rubbish waterbottle, or a stupid plastic guard on the rear casette. And there's a distinct lack of carbon pimpiness, decent pedals, brakes, etc etc etc. And I'm amazed I ever even made forward motion in snow on Jones XR tyres...the most useless rubber ever invented. Unless you happen to live in a desert...

get fixed soon, that's nasty! Echo the warning, riding on snow is great fun but I will never venture onto the roads when there is a risk of hitting ice, doesn't matter how skilled you are, you are going to come off!

.Adam. is that "selective colouring" or just a really bright bike on a really grey day...can't work it out!

I've been biking on a regular basis both to work and for general fun and I've just fitted some studded tyres and have absolutely no issues with both snow or black ice what so ever. So maybe getting the correct gear is the answer??

Anyhow took a quick piccy today on a blatter around the Solway coast where the sea has started to freeze into something that looks like the arctic! Crap phone piccy but you can see the ice....just..

is that by Bowness-on-Solway? How are the studded tires on clean tarmac, or have you not found any yet?!

Yeah sure is (well a couple of miles down the road) Tyres are fine on tarmac just "buzz" a little, the studs are designed to sink into the rubber so your not skidding off the road. When you first fit them you need to do 30 miles on tarmac to seat them correctly. You just fit them and leave them on for winter months take them off when the ice and frosts stop...

Best thing is the strange looks you get from people who obviously think you on normal tyres and risking your neck for the sake of a bike ride..
