Planet X London Road is the bike I'm hankering after at the moment. I did think it would be a great bike for riding some of the unsuitable roads on the moors but having ridden my road bike at speed down what was only a potholed steep bank, I think I'd rather have wide bars to give me that extra confidence.

I'd sell my Kinesis Racelight for one as it ticks the boxes for me.
I built a frame up with 105 & BB7 for £700. It's awesome! Ridden everywhere from South Downs Way, to road climb touring Scotland (with full guards on), and just did Ride London on it in a respectable time. All on Compass Barlow Pass Extralight 38c tyres, tubeless & low pressure.

My carbon road bike is mothballed now only for glass tarmac Alps riding. It is redundant everywhere else.

Keep the Racelight disk wheels off the Kinesis though if you have them!

I really don't understand that thought process.

Do you think a carbon bike is that delicate that it can't stand up to 'normal' use?

I'll admit to running a winter/commuter frame but that's down wishing to keep my Wilier in 'good' condition rather than the fact that it can't cope with rough roads etc.

No. It's all about being comfortable over a longer distance = faster. For me anyway.

Just picked up a Croix De Fer 20 2015 for £775, I feel it was a bit of a bargain.

Ticks the boxes for disc, bigger tyres for the inevitable pot holes this winter, fits mudguards which the road bike cannot do, pannier racks evidently sit inboard so should be more stable. I'll swap out the levers for 105 as the tiagra cables will be in the way for lights will also look tidier, and a different seat/seat post. Been a while since I've had steel, liking the slender lines.
