I've ordered a couple of these for my road bike and MTB. Haven't been delivered yet but hopefully will be decent!

I like that. Are they commercially available yet or do you have to contribute towards the campaign?https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/-oi/oi-the-bi...

That is a lovely piece of design, I like that even more than the ball bag rear lights that were on Kickstarter a while ago!https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/-oi/oi-the-bi...
This never fails for me... the classic Dixie Horn!
I've Got The Horn by Ben Magee, on Flickr
- Obviously this is only balanced on the bars for the sake of silliness...
I have one of these which emits a lovely "inoffensive" tone but I prefer the look of the Oi Oi.

No bell on my bike as I prefer uncluttered handlebars, one of those oi bells linked above would be OK though. I usually should "Excuse me" if I'm coming up behind someone and "Thanks" as I pass. Or good morning etc if I'm just passing someone, generally people are out to enjoy the countryside and being nice doesn't hurt.

Then I wait for them to either walk into me, or they walk around, just to prove a point.
You sound like a nice chap. Then I wait for them to either walk into me, or they walk around, just to prove a point.
So what would you do to alert daft plugged in walkers then?

If its morning: Morning!
If its afternoon: Afternoon!
Evening...yep....Evening!
Often I usually say the above even if they dont need to move over!
Job Jobbed
I usually give them a smile and say thanks when they move over, everyone happy, no issues, no complaining that "everyone in life is rude" etc
Ive tried bells, but people done hear them until its too close, I guess the weather can mask high pitch noises and your ear fails to detect higher pitch as you get older, also the horses often hear the bell, but not the riders
Just gottta treat others how you want to be treated and ignore the idiots
I do think some riders dont realise how fast they are going , or the speed difference between walkers and cyclists even when you slow down on a bike. Bit like how car drivers dont realise you need to give a bigger gap than you think to cyclists
Absolutely agree with all the above. Even if they don't need to move over... Yup, I nearly ended up wearing a dog a couple of weeks ago because not one of the 4 peeps with the dog looked before suddenly leaping to the other side of the road! One vocal 'lady' asked me if I had a bell - and her (then?) partner laughed when I retorted "what for, to save you looking around, it was a good job I wasn't an electric car". Since then I just say loudly "afternoon" or whenever, as above and find it's the most effective and least offensive. Well said 'Twisting my melon" you have it mastered! If its afternoon: Afternoon!
