On Snowdon/in Snowdonia ?

The only one I know of in the UK is at Honister.
Still have no idea what you guys mean?
Pleas explain!
Via Ferrata - Iron Way. They are protected scrambles essentially. So a scramble route with a steel cable set into pitons along it. You wear a climbing harness and clip onto the cable as you scramble so if you fall, you only fall as far as the previous piton. Lots of them in the Dolomites. Give google images a go.

I didn't realise there were any over here. Seen plenty in Italy. Might have to give that a go...

my fault i got lost, i was thinking of dinorwig but its honister, i knew it was a mine but couldnt remember which one!.....

its basically a lot of ropes and ladders around the old quarry which help non-climbers gain access to some good scrambling up and over the more inaccessable areas. you have a harness and safety line on.

they were first "created" in italy during the war to help troops up mountains where ladders were bolted into the cliff face.

They dont sound much good for MTB'ing or a bloke with a large fear of heights..

I wouldn't bother with the via ferrata at hoister, at least not until the new bit is completed. I went up this summer and had tackled harder stuff on the scramble we did getting up to honister without the protection. If you want to investigate (at your own risk) ladders bolted to rock faces then I reccommend going up to the quarry at Dinorwic.

Honister is marketed well but is only really a challenge for those with vertigo or who have never left a paved road.
