I bought my daughter a Kiddimoto balace bike looks great and there are companies that do personalised graphics for them. As you can see from the photo I have a thing for Ducati's so I did a vinyl 07 on the front (year she was born) Casey Stoner style. I got the side fairing graphics made for me as printable vinyl I have at work wasn't big enough. Makes it more girly and she is known as Sweetpea. There is a similar sweetpea graphic on the car.

Sorry about the rubbish photo.

Kiddimoto also make moped, chopper and scrambler style balance bikes.

I must be old or I'm missing the point with these so called balance bikes. Because they've got no pedals you've got to put your foot down to scoot it along so that defeats the object. Honestly I reckon my younger son learnt to ride a proper kids bike in a weekend but that was because it had pedals so he was motivated to make it go... fast! They look rubbish to me. frown

my son is 2 yrs old, and can play on his scoot, including learning balance. I somehow doubt he would be able to cope with a bike without stabilisers...

I read some time ago in a cycle magazine that for a first bike the 12" raleigh ones are very good. They are light and perfect for a first bike with pedals.
My boys are 8, 6 and 1, the eldest two both zipped around on balance bikes from a young age. When the eldest was 3 nursery asked us when we taught him to ride without stabilizers we hadn't. He'd just picked one up at nursery and of he went this is purely down to the balance bike. His brother did more or less the same.
We still have the first raleigh thing we bought our eldest its perfectly ok for when the youngest needs one. The elder two have progressed to proper bikes (Kona and ridgeback).
