Would say yes, but my chances of leaving work before 6 are remote frown

Any news? I can hang around for a wee bit but really want to be off by 18:00, otherwise I'll be back pretty late.

I've PM'd you too...

Evening - not looking good I'm afraid. Will have to leave it for tonight. Have a good ride. Its going to be a perfect evening for it.

Might console myself with a few reps of the Col du Highgate on my way home...

A couple of the guys at work are keen tomorrow as well, I'll see how much I tire myself out tonight...

Doing my bit for not overcrowding the Tube tomorrow by riding my old Peugeot from Euston to Westminster. Don't get the chance to cycle in London that often but have always enjoyed cycling there. Something about the number of cyclists makes it a bit of a community. The diversity of bikes and cyclists you see there makes a refreshing change from the Shires.

And I will be careful.

ha great bike circa 1978 I guess.

Gear change on the top tube, before placing them on the down tube became the fashion.

old school....

Probably a good job no one was with me, the heat got to me, and I'm in bits now. Lovely view though.

Foook me. A lot of numpty drivers, pedestrians and cyclists around tonight. 5 miles back from the West End to SW11 and never come closer to death so many times.

Pedestrians stepping off kerbs without looking, cyclists coming out of junctions without looking and drivers, well, doing what they normally do.

Keep your wits about you everyone!

hmmm, come to think of it, wouldn't that be a much better place for them ergonomically? Were they placed on the downtube to get a straighter cable run perhaps?

Anyway, lovely riding into work atm.

So last nights detour cost me about 60 miles. Did a little over 65 miles in total, with about 650 vertical metres. (Not actually that much, I know, but it felt rubbish in the heat.)

There was a lot of totty scattering the roads and pavements last night, I love London in the summer.

The ride in this morning was OK, but my legs were a bit tight.

Little bit jealous.

On the 'distraction' front, I almost rode into the back of a bus on Oxford Street on Monday. Stopped just in time then had to do a weird trackstand/wobble as was clipped in, shoulder on the bus.

Danger is not from cars and buses, danger is from pavement dwelling hotness.

Anyone notice a change this morning with traffic lights? Seemed like the phasing was different in some places and traffic was lighter?

My missus and I think the lights have been changed everywhere within the M25, with the over-arcing plan being to keep traffic stuck outside the North/South circular, or thereabouts.

Since I start work at 700, it's usually quiet, so difficult to discern a difference. However leaving work last night about 1730, the embankment was very clear, and I only caught red lights at the Houses of Parliament and Putney Bridge. It seemed quieter for all traffic except cyclists and suicidal pedestrians.

Big old headwind round here this morning to make it a bit of a hack. Is anyone else having problems with Strava picking up satellites? I couldn't get it to work on my HTC today although maps & gps work fine, Strava couldn't find one.

Dear Mr Shoreditch fixie,

Please can you remember to look over your shoulder if you decide you've had enough of sitting behind a taxi and decide you want to filter down the middle of the road.

Yours,

For the last two days my runs in and out (mainly on CS7) have been very different to usual. I've been getting runs though 3, 4 or even 5 sets of lights that have never been possible before and I'm just plodding along at the same pace.

Traffic light sequencing has been changed on and around the ORN to help keep 'Zil' laned roads moving.
