Last photos from Greece, short but steep 6 miler above Palairos on the MTBs.
A mile down the road the climb starts and ascends 700ft in the next mile & a bit.
The reward is a lovely 3 mile downhill back into the town.
What's the heat like in Oct? I often see lovely trails when on Greek islands, would love to try them, but not in June/July.A mile down the road the climb starts and ascends 700ft in the next mile & a bit.

It was a Neilson holiday, so mixed the biking with learning to sail.
Not cheap, but 10/10, so much so I’ve already booked for 2024.
Monday morning, start of the local trail…
Centre-right sun is reflecting off the ocean - it really is a nice spot to start the day
@wobert - love the photos from Greece, remind me of me and MrsPB renting some bikes on our honeymoon in Palaeochora, Crete. It was late June and the heatwave was late-30/early-40C. We headed into the hills and managed about 10 miles all up - unaccustomed to the heat, it was harder than we thought

We had 24-28oC this week, the lower end was bearable, 28was a bit warm tbh.

Thanks, Mrs Tickle wouldn't be pleased if I packed my bike next year. Would love to one year though when the kids are a little older.A large bottle of water doesn’t last long meaning mucho beers on the return to the hotel.

Due to a combination of little sleep, being heavier than I was last time I did any mountain climbing, and an ongoing arm injury issue I struggled up to Pico Las Nieves in Gran Canaria. Toughest day out for me for a while, but I made it with just a couple of water stops.
The ride back down was fun though when on the sections of smooth tarmac, apart from the moment I rounded a corner at 35mph to find a friendly driver thinking they were still back home in their hire car and driving up my side of the road. Pretty sure had I been riding a bike set up in UK form (front brake on the right) I’d have been over the bars, as I grabbed the lever too sharply in panic. It did me a favour as I actually locked up the rear and drifted to the side of the car in between the side barrier. The view over the side was a bit too close for comfort though.
The view at the top across to Roque Nublo with Teide on Tenerife in the background
There’s a Synapse hiding in there somewhere

The forecast before I went was forecasting 3 unsettled days, the reality was a storm one afternoon and then increased winds for a few days which curtailed the beginners sailing.
It was a really good mix of activities and social stuff, I lost my wife back in August to cancer, so this was my first solo trip in 29 years.
It didn’t diasappoint.
I haven't been riding much as my son has been in hospital for the last few weeks, we were meant to be heading of on a riding trip today, somewhere in South Wales and BPW tomorrow. However, given I have spent most my week with him in hospital, it was really nice to get out for a ride with my younger son, even if it was a slow loop of a gentle blue trail.
