(I haven't lived there since 1998. I miss the beach. frown )
I spent a fair bit of time ( before the pandemic) trying to teach one of the parrots in the aviary to swear. She was nearly there by about July last year, then I couldn’t get down there, because there was nowhere open for a st proper stop, for months. Anyway, whenever she got close to the word, I gave her some of the seeds I carry with me. So yesterday I was walking past the aviary, and she was in the cage, and I heard “whistle, vvvclick” then “whistle, vu…..click” well that was close enough. Clever birds are parrots, and obviously remember stuff.

I went out for 75km or so today. A mixed route. Very warm out. Needed the breeze and SPF50!

Personal goal achieved this morning- solo 100km in under 3 hours. Just scraped it at 2:59 and a few seconds biggrin

Early start so nice clear roads, no wind and beautiful clear skies. Halfway stop at Seasalter for a quick slice of malt loaf then back the way I came.

Think I earned my barbecue food this afternoon!

That the one half way between Blackridge and Hillend Reservoir?

Ironic given you can ringing your bell like you have ADHD and are clean out of Ritalin along there and you’ll still end up having to stop whilst the groupings of farts in a trance figure out how to move to one side of the bloody path.
biggrin Yeah, that's the one. I tend to go along first thing in the morning, so not many people on it, but have been shouted at to ring my bell before (after ringing it, several times!!)

Chose a somewhat flatter ride down to and along the coast a bit today; 35 miles and 17mph average, very happy with that smile
(I've tried. I can do km/kmh on Zwift, but it's got to be miles/mph in the real world or I have no clue!)

Looking towards Pembrey from Burry Port.

Burry Port lighthouse is ... underwhelming spin

Have you had a go on the traffic free "road" racing circuit at Pembrey? There's some lovely riding down there, but sadly I've not had too many opportunities to indulge since I left in 1987. A few 'Battle On The Beach' bike races, and staying over with my brother a couple of times is the sum total of it really.

I'm just massively jealous of how smooth that tarmac looks.

Still struggling with motivation to move back to my proper road bike after a winter of being comforted by 32mm tyres on our wretched scarred surfaces.

Yeah, Margit Sziget is very well surfaced and it's easy to hold decent speed. Less than 2km from my place in BP, so very handy!

The rest of Budapest isn't quite so good and i had to put the Factor in the shop last week to sort out the FD after a particularly nasty bit of tarmac on a DH knocked out out of alignment...

Been a long time since I've been to Pembrey park, so I'd missed that completely! Bookmarked the bookings page so I can go sometime it's open to the public and have a play thumbup
Mind you, I've not gotten around to nipping down to Carmarthen velodrome yet, and that's only 10 miles or so from me...

There certainly is smile Glorious views around every corner and next to no traffic off the main roads. Some of the very minor roads are on the dodgy side, and it does go up and down a lot but my legs are getting used to it and having my new bike helps with my head, at least wink

Scorchio day yesterday evening but was nice riding around the local conservation areas. Our parks here aren't huge, but they are nice and chill and quite a few woodland trails to kick dust and loose bits through.

Just noticed that is someone sunbathing in the first pic far left lol...

Borrowed this bad boy from a mate for 20 miler round the New Forest. Normally ride a full suss Intense Primer with 140 rear, 150 front suspension so going to a fully rigid, albeit with monster tyres was a bit of a change of riding style.

It was surprisingly enjoyable and perfect for the sort of terrain and surface you find in the forest.

Not a convert to fat wheels yet as its too compromised for the type of riding I normally do, but don't write them off till you've tried one.
