Latest build (as also seen on Bikeradar, Road > Your Bikes), Trigon TR-437, new frame, older bits.
Hopefully first ride tomorrow, not too far, just to make sure everything is tightened / adjusted / not going to fall off.
Arrrrgh. That's bloody horrible. Get it sorted right away, it's making my teeth itch!!!!Hopefully first ride tomorrow, not too far, just to make sure everything is tightened / adjusted / not going to fall off.
Sorry. Nice bike, and all that good stuff, but the front wheel needs turning around - the writing on the rim is opposite to the rear wheel, and I'm inexplicably and disproportionately bent out of shape just looking at it.

Just bought some secondhand Rockshox SIDs to finish off the Cotic Soul build... could be quite a nice bike when its complete though I suspect the Easton Haven basrs and stem will be changed...

Don't ever use these fking pieces of utter rubbish unless you want to get used to picnic stops every other day. Absolutely the most fking useless things ever invented! Pack a spare tube or two then fix with a normal patch.
They're the best patches I've ever used!I carry a tube and a pack of these

To replace some crossrides, first race on them today, very impressive.

I was planning to buy a set of those, mainly because the white hubs and spokes would match my bike. Since a van crashed into me on the bike in February, I've binned that idea. After all, the replacement bike, when I buy it, might not be white, and as a shallow tart, where would that leave me? I'll tell you where. With a wheelset that doesn't match my frame, that's where! And that cannot be allowed to happen

YJ have you got all the insurance stuff sorted out yet? Been back out on the MTB yet?
Not sorted yet. Solicitor is on the case and I'm waiting to see the 'medical expert' so that any long term effects can be assessed for the compensatory element of the claim. I've been sent another appointment for the hospital fracture clinic too, which I wasn't expecting, possibly as a result of my last visit to my GP. She's far from happy with my range of movement, and I still can't get my wedding ring onto my finger, so there may have been a fracture there too.An interim payment should be made soon for the actual losses, like the bike and clothing. I just need to finalise a few prices for replacement items, then submit the total. Then wait for the other side to argue about how much to reduce it for 'wear and tear'.
As for the MTB, no, I've not taken the plunge there either. PHer richardxjr kindly sent me some 'part worn' bits he had lying around, but I've not had a chance to fit them yet. So many other jobs around the house and garden built up when I was at my lowest (physically) that I'm trying to set about them first. Plan is to try to fit the new brakes and chainrings this coming week, or early the next, then start with a few gentle trundles around Hawley lake. There's nothing too taxing there, really.
Thanks for asking, Alex. Have you been away recently? I'm sure I saw a few rides on your Strava feed that were distinctly out of your usual roaming range.

It will be readable driveside at the top...
I'm going to get a woosh aren't I
I must be getting one as well! Did a quick canvas of a few wheels, and most have the readable bit at the top on the driveside.I'm going to get a woosh aren't I
Zipp and Mavic included.
Maybe I should just go and look for some stripy paint :-)

You're obviously a man who likes to get his money's worth out of a product
How many sets have you gone through now?
It's mainly down to price & availability in Australia & New Zealand. Shops with a decent range of touring tyres are few and far between although they all say "we can get them in in a few days" by which time I'll be long gone. You're obviously a man who likes to get his money's worth out of a product

The shops that had Marathon Plus in stock wanted £40 each when I bought these for £25 each from CRC and had a mate who was coming to Santiago anyway bring them over for me.
So far I've been through 3 x Continental TopContacts and 2 x Contact 2s. The TopContacts were very good for durability and the Contact 2s not so good but were half the price. The back one (on the right) only lasted from Melbourne to Sydney then Queenstown to Auckland although the front one (on the left) did make it from Bangkok to Jogjakarta, Perth to Sydney then Queenstown to Auckland.
I'm also carrying a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Extremes with plenty of life left that I used from Batumi in Georgia to Bangkok because of the amount of dirt roads in Asia that I was expecting to ride on.
For puncture resistance, the Contis were very good and the Marathon Extremes complete ste so I'm hoping the Pluses will be better, going on the reviews on the net.
