Just ordered - thanks. Been meaning to get a 2nd one as a back up. I paid £29.99 from a UK supplier last winter for what looks like the same product!
(I've opted for the free delivery - Express dlivery is available.....for £300!)

Thick question, do the rubber bands allow you to mount the lights on the handlebar? Light looks awesome value but prefer bar mounts, though at that price I'd be tempted by two....

Yep, you should get 2 x rubber bands in with it.

I got one last year but it only lasted 5 rides before it died a death. Tempted to get another but I was seriously unimpressed with the quality of the last one. When it worked it was epic though.

The "rubber bands" are actually O rings and they do a reasonable, if not perfect, job of holding the light steady on the bars (provided you have some free space). I would also have preferred a proper, adjustable mount that clamped on with the use of a screw but for the price and performance of these lights it's hard to be fussy.

Cheers, I'll gve it some thought. Hard to argue with the price compared with my old lumicycle lights. Great kit they were but 10x the price?

Could have probably got it replaced after only five rides

It's annoying when the light moves slightly, but then it's handy because it lets you quickly and easily adjust where the light is shining

You really can't beat these lights for the money. I used 1 everyday all last winter and never had any issues, I do 6 miles a day during the week

Does anyone know where you can still buy the 30 degree wide angle lens for these lights? All of the Ebay links posted seem to be expired/not been relisted.

Yes! These guys sell the wide angle lens and also a handle bar mount. http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/magiclightuk?_trksid=p20...

If you read the small print in the description for the lens it says you may need a spacer or o-ring for it to fit the cheapo ebay lights, but i bought one and it fitted my cheapo light with no problem.

The seller I linked to still sells them. Just do a search for "Magicshine lens" to find them.

Need to take some new pics, but these are incredible and shockingly cheap compared to the branded (lezyne, cateye etc).

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271132469035?ssPageName=...
2 1k lumen torches - inc a pair of 18650 batteries, charger, alternate battery cages for emergency AAA batteries and decent handlebar mounts.(ste charger I dont trust as far as I can throw it)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300931885912?ssPageName=...
4K lumen main light, an upgrade over the one thats been recommended on this thread. The battery is rubber sealed and claims (and looks to be waterproof) and has a slightly nicer battery pouch. Did I mention 4 freaking K output?

Incredible pukka magicshine rear. Throws a pool of light that's just epic.

All of these should carry the "dont look into light with remaining eyeball" warning...

No lights

6k front illumination

we've another thread going here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

BTW anyone found a source for a decent 18650 cell charger or water sealed spare battery packs for the main lights?
Prices seem very variable..

Been out for my first night ride since buying my second light. So I now have 2 of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330958001861?ssPageName=...

One of which is fitted with one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

The verdict is: for on the road, the wide angle lens is brilliant. It reduces the brightness of the hotspot, so effectively the bright setting with the lens fitted is about as bright as the lower setting without. However, it gives a flood of light about twice as deep and 3-4 times wider.

It was a cloudy night, and I was out in the countryside, miles from the nearest village or town. Running both lights on full power, I was more than comfortable on a couple of 40+mph downhill sections, and felt it was too bright for riding on the flat, so tended to drop them both to the lower setting.

I will try to remember to stop and take some pics next time if people are interested, to compare.

I'd like to see the effect of the wide angle lens vs the standard if you wouldn't mind?

They will, but they'll call it a Magicshine 808 and it'll be £200 wink

Don't just look at lumens, look at the spread and quality of light. I night ride a lot off road and a 1800 lumen bar light (decent quality) and a lesser but still powerful helmet light works very well.

Here's the bar light on my roof...!

The original single Cree light I had was good. Held a charge for 2.5hrs and hasn't let me down. The replacement with 3x LED's wasn't great. Overall power was decent but on high it dies within 70mins. On low it is not as bright as the older model and the battery is far bigger. I've lost the charger for the older one as well which sucks.

I am thinking of an Fluxient 3x XM-L U2 http://www.torchythebatteryboy.com/p/bike-light-da... and use the Cheapo Cree on a helmet mount?

Does anyone have the Hope R4?

I do, and when it's left connected on the bike, switched off but charged, it's taken to leaving one LED dimly lit. Does anyone else have this?
