The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread Vol 2
Discussion
Will post here as bought separately, new daily bike.
Orro frame, forks and seat post, reduced from £1700 to £600 from Orro, 105 group set reduced to £500 from Wiggle rest swapped from old bike where the frame cracked (repaired once, cracked again so binned).
Was going to swap everything over but shifters were falling apart and rest was pretty worn, so justified new group set at 35% off.
Ended up getting new stem to match geometry from old bike.
Draw back was no mudguard mounts, but the ones I've put on are great for clip on's, no rattle's easy to adjust, would like the front to go further forward, but happy with it.
I think I got a bargain.

I don’t possess the skill or the bravery to throw that bike down a hill but it looks badass!
Possible not the best conditions yesterday to get used to a new bike with bigger wheels, but I’m really impressed with it. It’s very, very capable….much more capable than I am as rider. Can’t wait to get to Dyfi bike park on it.
Second set of wheels for my cx bike after rolling a tyre off the front wheel at my last race- could have ran back to the pits and easily swapped the wheel but couldn’t remount the tyre.
Dtswiss 481 rims on hope hubs, got a great price from a local wheel builder. XT discs and cassette. Much swearing at the disc on the back wheel as there was no room for the lock ring tool, LBS didn’t have any external lock rings. Got home and realised I could just pull the end cap off, do the lock ring up and push the end cap back on. So all sorted, hopefully tyres mounted tonight and test ride in the mud tomorrow.

After 9yrs faithful service I’ve decided to retire my Garmin 800 and try Wahoo instead, so I’ve got an Elemnt Roam v1 on the way. Rude not to try one when Mike Ashley is punting them out for under £150.
I’ve never used a Garmin bike computer but my Garmin watch is an unintuitive, buggy, infuriating POS compared to the ease of use of my Wahoo ELEMNT. Your Dad said:

It says £179 on the Sports Direct Website, how much did you pay?Is there much difference between this a mind the V2?

These pics really don't do it justice and make it look a bit ste but bought this Hope dropper lever for a build that's been fk'ed up by Wiggle and now probs won't happen but what a thing! Looks in the pics like there's all sorts of scratches in the anodising but looks mint in reality.
If your in the market for a dropper post lever, yes it's a bit spendy, but it's so much nicer than anything else I've had/got. Only downside is you need to find your own mount for which I'm using an old Sram shifter mount but One Up and I believe PNW ones work too.

Happened to see one in the sales.
It replaces a completely adequate brand x one that I had grabbed out my spares box.
Back in the spares box I guess.

Plenty of reviews detailing differences between V1 and V2.

It is a nice thing to be fair and in a completely different league to the Brand-X ones. Flip side of that is that I think BX posts themselves are amazing value for money and all the post anyone could need, my Hope lever now operates a BX post.... Happened to see one in the sales.

I'm not sure if there is really any significant difference in dropper posts across the price range - my oem Giant and Merida posts have been fine, my OneUp post is fine too unless you overtighten the clamp and then it gets reluctant. Basically as long as they are cleaned reasonably regularly they all just work.Possible longer term the more expensive posts will last longer, I haven't reached the point of finding out.
I have a Shimano lever on one and a OneUp lever on the other, both are good but that Hope looks next level for adjustability.

Yeah I know what your saying, I've got two OneUp's, a PNW and a BX, they're all just as good and reliable as each other. Only reason I have the OneUp's is for the lengths they do, one is 210mm and the other 240mm. Possible longer term the more expensive posts will last longer, I haven't reached the point of finding out.

Actually, I say they're all as good as each other, I did have a problem with one of my OneUp posts where I had to disassemble it and wrap some sparkie tape around some internal part to stop it rattling. That was a genuine fix that OneUp put out themselves too!
