Well why didn't you say there was a cat's arse involved? In that case I wish you God's speed Sir
I still think we should see the inevitable failure though!
I've got to see it through. If it works or not it's better to try fail and learn from the experience than to not bother in the first place. It's not going to cost me anything and the Youtube (faceplant) video will (over) qualify me for next years I'm a Celebrety get me dancing on ice. I still think we should see the inevitable failure though!

You do know that the moment you steer you'll lose the ability to pedal?
When you "set a bike up" the basic rule of thumb is to put your heel on the pedal with it in it's lowest position for maximum efficiency. Your stroke length will continually vary with the position of the steering.
Did I miss why you didn't affix that extension to the headstock instead of the forks?
You're mad, it'll never work and I want to see the inevitable crash on YouTube

The racing version hold the womens hour, 100 mile and 200mile outright records so clearly is a terrible design!
Its not to every recumbent riders taste but they work and are very popular conversions.
Liquid Knight, sign up on BentRiderOnline and ask their advice on your design, a far more receptive crowd I'd imagine! :-)
The bit I did measure (a-hem) is my inside leg and from the bottle cage bolts to where the pedal would be (at the most forward point) is one Inch less so my leg would be fully extended at the furthest point. In theory the momentum of my foot pushing forwards would add to the momentum of the forward motion making the process more efficient than pedling downwards on a convensional bike.
No progress to report. The Dawes is now for sale. Complete with BMW 325 headrest foam and duct-tape cusion.

The Marin has taken on "daily drive" duties while I wait for a windscreen for my Rover to get it through the M.O.T.
I chose a small frame to keep the ride height low for the recumbent (see some (very little but some) forward planning went into this project) but all 6'2" of me had issues on the way to work this morning.
Already decided to build a trike next powered like this.....

Admit - the prospect of "more comfort for the ladyeez" is what got you in to this

To be fair, it seems to turn okay.

Bl**dy hypocrites.... ignore them they are just jealous!
Throw away that go cart seat, you can buy a proper one cheaply from Marcin at- http://oceancycle.co.uk/
(No beard here, just a happy 'bent rider with a bad back who enjoys smoking roadies on £4000 carbon bikes for breakfast on his heavy steel recumbent :-)

And I mean a roadie, not a RSO.
So there are a couple of items I need from a steel frame to be able to mount a wide rear wheel in a narrow front fork. So I bought this frame from eBay for £5.50.....
...trouble is it's a brand new old stock frame, Raliegh Top Peack bikes are bloody rare and this one is the orange with pink flip clear lacqure (just think how popular Burners and Grifters are now I could potentially have a future classic in the sights of my grinder). I'm going to feel a little guilty cutting it up to win a silly bet. Still the rest of the fram and forks will come in handy for the next project. I also have a radical bum holding solution that was completely free of charge. So if nothing else goes wrong; the whole project will come in at under £200.

Don't forget your local police auctions, bikes start at £2! Oh, and I still think you're going to die
To paraphrase the rather poor Alien 3...We're all gonna die. The only question is how you check out. Do you want go on your feet, or on your home-brew recumbent. I ain't much for walking! Nobody ever gave me nothing! So I say fk that that! Let's cobble together a death trap from odds and ends and find the biggest hill!
A little more progress today...
...I felt guilty about cutting a classic frame but I felt more bored. Got this far and the welder decided it didn't need gas any more so I had to go to the local parts slingers.
It was dark when I got back so I just tacked the bracing in place to run over in daylight tomorrow.
And the suspension still works.
