Another YT owner here :-) My new Izzo arrived last Tuesday .... had a few hours on some local bridalways Thursday before a decent ride up on the NY moors Saturday. Had work at 20 odd MPH among gravel and XC bikes but felt at home when the gradient started to point down ;-). Not had an MTB for a few years after spending the last 6/7 years on the road and my last bike was a 26" Enduro bike ... 29"r's just want to roll, so this feels a million miles away.

Lovely looking new bike.

This thread is dangerous hehe

Built this last week. Ridden it a couple of times now and it's my new favourite bike. Always wanted a Klein from MTBing BITD. The paint on it is fantastic and the photo really doesn't do it justice, it's a fade from white to a dark silver. It's certainly stiff and racey but not as punishing as I had feared. First ride out and it wasn't any slower than my 2019 Scott Foil in all its aero, disc braked, Di2 glory!

For reference it's a 2000 Klein Quantum Race frame. I've built it up with mechanical Ultegra, mostly 6800 but with 8000 cranks, Pro finishing kit and Giant SLR 0 wheels. I've of course kept the original Chris King headset it came with! Neo-retro you might say.

Love this, and for the same reasons.

After not really getting out on the bike last year, I've been doing as many miles as possible this year. Fresh freehub service and she's as quiet as a mouse now.

Very nice. I;d go flat for more confidence and less chance of injury and it's also supposed to avoid some bad habits you can pick up with SPDs.

The Quantocks and Exmoor are both great places to ride, lots of routes online.
Thank you, bit the bullet and ordered some DMR V12's hopefully be here in time for a ride out on sunday. I will be taking Trek Bath up on their free service in the first month. As it seems to be jumping in top gear. Will definately be exploring Quantocks, been there a couple of times beautiful countryside.

Nice. I just got a Canyon Hard Tail, and am having a play around East Hill, which is just outside Ottery, near Honiton in Devon.

Where are you based?
Thought I'd go for hardtail first see if the bug bites hard again and to explore what is in the area first. Have bought some padded undershorts though!

I'm just south of the Glastonbury festival site.

You're a bit far away then for just popping out for an hour.

I haven't bought proper padded undershorts, I just ride in my roadie gear. I don't give two hoots what I look like!

My new bike came yesterday.

I was like a kid at Christmas waiting for it.
Need to go for a proper ride and get some decent pics.

Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to fit my bike rack (Thule freeride) as the down tube it too high!

All hail the Kona Unit... what once was single speed and barely used has now been revived as a 10 speed single track weapon that actually gets miles in this C19 world.

Beggars cannot be choosers on saddle colours at the moment and the stem looks a bit long... but the bike fits now like a charm.

Finally got round to replacing the Cannondale CAAD8 that was beginning to sound like a bag of spanners.

Very happy with it so far, feels very smooth and firm footed compared to the Alu Cannondale

(Ribble Endurance SL by the way)

Loving the Klein, a chap local to me has one which is sitting unused, such a waste!

Well-used 12-year-old Planet-X TT bike frames are decidedly noodly and not nice to ride, so I had been looking half-heartedly at new frames. LBS has been running a '60% off everything on the shelves' sale, as they're now owned by Sports Direct and apparently don't want to move a load of redundant SKUs onto the new stock system, and I nipped in there the other day to see if there was anything left.

Finally finished my lockdown build:

Clockwork Evo First Ride by Lewis Craik, on Flickr
It is a 2019 Clockwork Evo frame, mostly built up with parts from my old hardtail, except the rear wheel (Hope hub/DT Swiss rim, which I built up myself) headset and dropper post (BrandX).

I'm really pleased with how it rides.

It’s quite conservative compared to a lot of the TT/Tri frames out there, but on the strength of one ride so far it goes very well.
