Never heard of Hood Hill? I haven't been to Yearsley yet, bit closer than Dalby (45 mins away), although heading there tonight to do the red route again. I went Thursday and Saturday last week having not ridden there much since 2012. 29'ers make it feel a lot easier :-)

Congrats, looks superb!! We're waiting for my Mrs Emonda SLR to arrive ... 10 weeks as its Project One order ... 3 ish weeks to go I think. She has a 5 year old Emonda SL and I have a 3 year old SLR (non disc) and I think they're the best all round bike available from Trek.

They're night and day different to Dalby. Mix of natural and amatuer built trails all the way up to very very hard black routes. Terrain is very much winch and drop. With the drop being continuous fun.... Unlike Dalby which has lots of boring filler sections.

If you want showing round (the routes are un-marked local knowledge) drop me a pm. I'm only 10 mins from both. I'm there two or three times a week at the moment with mates enjoying the dry trails... being natural they can get boggy and they become less fun at that point.

Guisborough woods are worth a trip too and there is a new trail centre over towards fry-up Dale which OK.

My brothers new steed, I have serious bike envy now. However, having just had shoulder surgery on Monday for the third time in three years, it’ll be a while before I’m in the market for a new bike...

Snap!

I have one of these in the garage, although I've gone for an ISM saddle, and currently have a Giant aero-bottle cage for optimum Strava bashing.

It's a weapon, it flies, I'm massively over-biked.

I love it.

Thanks, it was a tough choice between this colour, and the red/black. It's hard to get a nice picture of it though, the chrome areas just glare in sunlight.

Feck! I hope this isn't prying, but do you have a prosthetic setup that will enable you to use two pedals?

Awesome, all the very best to you.

Twenty years ago, I worked as a Saturday boy in a bike shop. Me as a 17 year old, plus the full timers in their mid 20s. Great Times.

One day, an absolutely stunning woman came in. We all leapt to it, and I won.

Turns out, she had no leg below the hip. You'd never have known. So, bike bought without a test ride, then strapped pedal one side for prosthetic, etc.

Came in, extended test, adjustments, the full works to make sure she was safe and comfortable.

Being easy on the eye, and very personable helped...

One of the lads asked how fellas took hearing about the lack of leg.

"pretty well, you let them know early. If they look perturbed, I point out the potential angles they'll have never experienced anywhere else..."

Silence descends whilst we all process this.

Blushes occur.

She giggles, and points out that's how fellas react too...

Yes regular leg setup and normal shoes. A while back played around with pedals and both SPD SL and normal SPDs (which were my preferred road pedals, I used XTR ones) were awkward so I've gone and bought magpeds which as the name suggests are magnetic cleats.

In the future it will be easier still as I take delivery of my MPK( microprocessor controlled knee) as it has a designated cycling mode which essentially switches off the hydraulics so you aren't fighting against that.

When I was being sized up a few months ago it felt weird at first on the turbo but after a while. It just felt like I was cycling.

Good to hear. I've only ever encountered a couple of one-legged riders out on the road - both times they dropped me...

That’s a seriously nice looking bike. Most new bikes are boring black or hideous colours.

My new Synapse came with Fulcrum DB 500 wheels. A few reviews bemoan the stock wheels but don't explain why. Are they heavy or not aero enough? What is their moan? If I were to upgrade What price point/features would be noticeable?

Wouldn't worry about reviews,if they run true, just enjoy riding the bike,I've a pair of unused Campag zondas, got them to replace basic giant tcr wheels, never felt need to change them
