I pick it up tomorrow morning, funnily enough I am less excited about a new car than I was when I picked up my new Colnago last year!!!!
I'm glad it isn't just me that is in the situation where they need to purchase a car mainly for bike transport.![](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/littleredbarchetta/WP_20150202_001_zps187385ab.jpg)

I'd be questioning your sanity if you were able to get excited about a passat, tbh. ![](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/littleredbarchetta/WP_20150202_001_zps187385ab.jpg)

The Saab 9-5 Aero Estate was bought for this very reason, I had two road bikes and two mountain bikes in the back the other day.
That was also on my list but I managed to get my hands on a 58 plate Passat 'Sport' with 52k on the clock, FSH in close to immaculate condition for £5750 - happy (but not excited) with that!!!Edited by JustinF on Wednesday 4th February 18:40

On the subject of bike transportation, I have to disassemble half the damn bike to get it in the boot of my car. I'm thinking of getting shot of the M5 though and getting a camper van of sorts. I can take the family and bike with ease = win.
I picked up my new single speed last weekend. A Pearson Once More Unto The Breach custom build, it weighs in at 9.5kg and it's very smooth to ride ![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)

Some cheap saddlebags for my MTBs and Cross bikes, doesn't seem to matter what brand I buy, the wet mud seems to do for the stitching in no time at all.
A couple of Ass-Savers.
Smaller sprocket for my single speed MTB. Seems strange to have a choice of ratios, a bit like having gears, but it takes ten minutes to change from one to the next.
Charge Knife Titanium for my latest cross bike build.
Nobby Nic tyre, 29er.
A few sets of Jagwire cables.
More Planet X Flandrian socks, seem to match loads of my kit.
Doval rings for my existing cross bike.
And some stuff I can't remember until the packages arrive...

Just give in and buy a van. Not very PH, but my Fiat Scudo is found lurking in muddy fields all over the north of England, complete with PH sticker.![](http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/littleredbarchetta/WP_20150202_001_zps187385ab.jpg)

You may joke, but I did think about it - then I did some 'bike math'....![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

S6 = £20,000-ish
Passat = £5750
S6 Insurance = £450 fully comp
Passat Insurance = £180 fully comp
Fuel (based on 10k miles at todays pump price)
S6 = £2128.95
Passat = £1089.71
Aggregated service costs pa (5 years);
S6 = £640.00
Passat = £230
TCO (1st year)
S6 = £23218.95
Passat - £7249.71
So, buying the Passat gives me £15,969.24 more money to spend on bikes and bike bits........
![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
Also, Passat comes with the optional 'don't give a shi7 where I park it, or what I put in/on it' option....!
