Bought this second hand at the start of the first lock down, it needed a bit of work doing but new wheels, tryes, brakes and cables sorted it out. Still trying to find some mtb skills from somewhere after years on the road bike. Great fun though

Decided to try a road bike for the first time, and because I'm a bit weird and a cheapskate I went for something ancient.

The bars are so narrow, the gearing is so high, and it's scary having to take my hand off the bars to change!

This is great! Just please check that the tyres and brake blocks aren't as old as the bike!

That is exactly how I first felt when I jumped (back) onto a Road Bike for the first time for 20yrs after riding MTBs.

It'll very very soon come good.

....and a lovely vintage bike wink

Have been chuntering away nicely on my Giant Defy but had some good news and felt like a treat. Purchased myself a (deep breath) Giant TCR Advanced 1+ Pro Compact DIsc.

Apart from the long name its kind of nifty. It seems to be a spec not available in the UK and as full Ultegra minus the crank which is a generic Shimano semi-compact, although it does have the SLR2 Carbon wheels. The other they had in stock had the Ultegra crank but regular aluminium wheels, figured the carbon wheels are worth a fair bit more than a crank which will be swapped out soon (if at all).

It's not the SL or the Pro but apparently the only difference between the Pro and the basic is the steerer being a different diameter, as have been told Overdrive 1 is carbon as well. TO be honest its looking like the base model is somewhat of a bargain now and I woould never be able to tell the difference between different diameter fork steerers.

Nice bit of kit and much better than me, apart from cables are a bit of a mess and far too long and LBS have offered to cut them all down and tidy it, but not exactly the greatest problem. Have had a couple of really nice rides with it now around Singapore, twitchy but to be expected coming from a Defy.

Concrete grey with Chameleon green lettering.

Joined the ever-growing gravel bike crew! Boardman ADV 8.9 on the Cycle2Work scheme. Very pleased with it so far! Got a few little upgrades planned (1 x GRX conversion, a dropper post, maybe some Hunt wheels) but mostly going to be enjoying it over winter and hopefully getting my child seats mounted (Thule Yepp Mini up front and a Hamax rear one) so I can get out with our 18 month old.

I have 3 bikes but only have pictures of one. Bought new on 2000, Happy 20th, Still going strong but only gets occasional use

The other 2

A Gary Fisher Mendota
Again getting on in years but I see no need to change this, used to be used for work and back but now gets used more for evening rides, keeping fit, I've never got on with Racers (drop bars) so this is perfect road riding for me.

La Pierre Zesty AM4.0 29'er
I bought this in Jan before Covid as was intending to get back into MTB, Looked at a lot of MTB's managed to get this for a good price and so far its had little proper use but I'm loving it. I've done a couple of 30miles trail rides on it. Comfortable enough with a padded ar5e . Its better than I'll ever need at my age.

That Klein looks amazing! takes me back to my first dabble into MTB.

Any idea what it's weight is out of interest?

Got this on cycle 2 work.....I'm WFH in my bedroom and will be for the foreseeable, but there you go!

You can't see as it's plastered in muck but it's a Whyte T140 S.

It's ace, but can't help feel the 2.6 wide tyres slow it down a bit and it might feel a bit qhicke on some narrower rubber. I've come from s lightweight XC 29er to this so although it's far plusher and generally more fun to ride it does feel a bit slower.

About 11kg. Not to bad.

Just realized I paid the same for the Klein and Lapierre, just 20 yrs apart, shows how much things have moved on

These are me and my sons bikes that i’ve been restorung/re-building.
The Buckshaver is an XS size for my 8yo son and been rebuilt with a mix of period correct and modern parts. Runs 1x7 and weighs in at 19.4lb.

The Yo Eddy is mine and not quite finished. Being built with period correct parts. Both had a re-spray to Aquafade so we can have matching retrobikes when we go riding.

This takes me back - I used to have a Klein Pulse Pro - beautiful bike - had it about 6 years, including riding coast to coast with my dad. Some ****er stole it from the underground car park at my flat-block. Absolute arse, bet they got £10 for it or chucked it in the river.

Lovely to see a Klein still being used.
