Smoke haze has returned to Sydney - this is from North Head, could only just make out South Head which is only a few hundred metres away, should be able to see the city...

I’m guessing the mood is quite somber out there at the moment.
Are you not breathing all sorts in when out and about? Or does it look worse than it is?

Gravel Ben, that’s some big scenery. Looks a bit barren. Almost other worldly. cool

Hi Yellowjack.
Yep they sound very similar to mine. Front isn’t indexed as you say. Can trim it to stop chain rubbing etc.

40 mile loop across the border into Cheshire.

Chester Greenway takes me through Chester so a couple of good backdrops to photograph the Grade.

Last one is on my way home near Rossett.

A busy day at the Haldon Forrest Park today. After a quick lap of the red and blue routes, it was time to stop at the café.

Nope, it’s as bad as it looks, and it’s been about picking the days to do big efforts. The last few days have been better in Sydney but Melbourne has looks rough and elsewhere it depends on proximity to fires and the wind.

Anyway, this morning was going really well in the early dawn...

... until a slice in the sidewall of the rear tyre put paid to that. I had a tube but no levers to get the tyre back on and had to walk/drive home.

We've had a few dark smokey days in NZ from the Aus fires and we're 2000+ km away, so I can only imagine how bad it is there!

High rollers on. Fabric scoop on. Briefly Slung it round a very busy and frozen swinley. Last time I turn up at 10am. Feels good now I've got some air in the rear shock but my backs fked so no fun stuff today. See red 15 was closed

My bike is still recovering from a very wet ride there before Christmas. New pads, chain and BB.

If i just go through this little mud patch to be on the shortcut home...

it was deeper a foot to the left so as i came to a stop and slowly tilted to the right, no solid ground for the feet..

2x 5 litre spray bottles to clean the bike and shoes smile

It serves more as a reminder not to use it fully and for others to be careful not to whack it...

... but it’s also a good reminder of the 4 hours in A&E last night getting x-rays and opinions of three specialists to confirm nothing fractured. Off the bike for a while.

Moral of the story - wet metal gratings are v slippy

Glad to hear nothing is broken.

I can also confirm that leaves over mud are slippy too.

Not rechecking tyre pressures after topping up sealant probably didn’t help either.

A view of Mildenhall in the Marlborough Downs. The bench is on an excellent corner which could be drifted around if you were in a Caterham, for example. whistle

Snuck out yesterday to Cannock before the storm arrived. Glad I did too because the trails were pretty much dry, even those under dense cover. Scoped our a few new ones to be built too.

Enjoying the big silly coloured Intense too.

Took in Belmonte Hill, which was nice...NOT!
