I love the way this thread keeps going on and off topic in random directions before coming back again.
Yeah, we had a crap summer, think we got one good week in July then just rain until September. Not even light rain either, just constant heavy downpours, was ste and proper sapped all my enthusiasm for riding!
I don't mind winter riding and actually really enjoy it in the more extremes. Frozen ground, zero wind and blue skies is as good as dry and dusty summer riding IMO. Snow adds another element too and is actually much grippier and more fun than you think. Then there's night riding!
I love those cold, dry days with frozen ground. Forecast is ok for us this week with temps dropping so I’m hoping that’ll firm the ground up a tad.Yeah, we had a crap summer, think we got one good week in July then just rain until September. All these picture make mine seem like a garage queen! Slightest bit of dirt and it needs a wash!
Not that I go out in anything near as extreme.
I’m not as good as keeping my bikes clean like I used to, I usually try and get a few rides between washes although it’s been so wet locally, it’s pretty much been cleaning after every ride. Not that I go out in anything near as extreme.
Just the UK importers / distributors have been closed down by the parent. Other than that nothings changed…you’ll have to buy your cannondale / submit warranties via PON HQ.
They must be looking at some grim results and predictions to do this. Desperate times for poor staff…

I’m a bike retailer. When a brand announces it is closing down its uk importer / distributor we have a fair idea of how things will develop. The industry is confused. There are all kinds of options and combinations of retailing from Giant to Canyon. Nobody knows which is best ! Any bike business that wants to survive has to have a diversified stream of income.

Could you elaborate?Canyon I’ve come to understand is direct to consumer, what’s Giant’s deal?
Right. I think I can see your perspective then. Without putting words in your mouth, I'm guessing you feel the threat is your source of bikes from CSG is threatened if PON decide to transition CSG handled brands to DTC sales?
It is nevertheless different from Cannondale becoming unavailable in the UK. No one has said that have they?

I doubt that Cannondale will go to a DTC model, as while it does mean that they keep a bigger margin, they also have to put in place a huge logistics system to handle delivery and returns, extra staff, a call centre to handle sales and technical queries, plus they will need to hold all the stock required for the UK , rather than having bike shops effectively provide it for them.It is nevertheless different from Cannondale becoming unavailable in the UK. No comparatively niche bike brand has a huge logistics system. Trust me on that, I work in logistics. Supermarkets have huge logistics systems, bike companies are minnows by comparison.
All of which is away from the query that Cannondale is withdrawing from the UK market. That's the part I'm interested in.
