Glad you're enjoying it and that it has become a decent solution for exercise. I actually find that it cuts the spikes in high BPM heatrate which at 51 is quite good.

As for annoying conventional riders, it is a bit weird make the most of it now as the playing field is getting levelled at quite a pace what with the massive amount of people switching.
On certain climbs I'll use the trail mid assistance try and keep a pace so I head towards max heart rate for the very last section of the climb, if I get it wrong I can knock it up to boost to finish to climb. Sometimes I push hard in eco or trail then use boost to get my breath back at the top without having to come to a stop. In some respects knowing the assistance is there means you can see how far you can push yourself. Not the same as beating a climb unassisted, but you can still work towards it, that first time you make the top without having to use the motor still feels good.

Just rolled over 1,000 KM and it's still going fine. Mix of riding off road trails to on-road it really works perfectly on all surfaces. Currently I'm equaling downhill speeds on my road bike but it feels so much more capable of handling pot holes and poor surfaces due to the chunky tyres than my unassisted carbon, with the assist you really don't need the ultra low rolling resistance tyres of a road bike and obviously on the hills it is somethng else.

Can't recommend enough, definitely a game changer.

I think my emtb is brilliant. I have two shot knees, one knackered achillies and various other body mechanics issues, including being overweight.
I haven’t ridden for about 6 months, yesterday after rebuilding my bike I rode 24 miles, 3 hours, 3400 ft of climbing, av heart rate of 150, all off road. Now, due to my current fitness level, i’d never be able to ride a fraction of that, and certainly not off road on a ‘normal’ bike.

I was knackered when i got home and used 90% of my battery, but I did it, that’s what it’s about, being able to get out into the country and do some exercise.

As an aside, probably saw about 15 other mtn bikers, and i would guess just over half of them were on e-bikes.

Well I scoffed earlier at the exercise argument, and said when you're limited to 15.5 mph there's no real motivation to put in as much effort. So today I hacked the speed limiter, and it seriously flies now.

What I did find was hacking the limiter gave me a pretty tough workout, because I was (as ever) motivated by the desire to go as fast as possible. What can I say, it's just too much fun and I can't recommend it enough. I actually think it's safer on the road as the speed differentials are lower with other cars going at 30mph say.

Battery life wasn't as bad as I thought either. Wish my mudguards would arrive though, essential in winter weather as every time I go out at present I end up with a faceful of mud and rain.

Cool. I hope you've now taxed and insured it as a motor vehicle?

Bear in mind the guy whizzing past on the ebike is probably someone like me who has no great interest in cycling at all and has no intention of ever being able to ride long distance, but just uses their ebike as a tool to commute, and for fun. And they are fun.

I've not mastered the etiquette of overtaking on my ebike yet, when I'm making good progress at a comfortable speed and find I happen to be catching up a cyclist in front, I'm never sure whether to acknowledge them as I pass, with a 'Good morning" as a friendly gesture, or to say nothing ao they don't think I'm taking the pi$$. I generally choose to say say nothing as they are probably hating me.

I once did a double overtake, in that a serious looking cyclist was overtaking another cyclist, and at the exact same time I overtook them both, so we were all abreast each other. The planets aligned that day I guess, for that to happen. Chance in a million biggrin
You've pretty much described my outlook on using an E-MTB, although I do put the bike in the back of my van to get to my favourite riding location.
In the 6 plus months I've been riding the same route I've nearly halved my time doing the same route.
Part because the uphill section is now so much less effort but the remaining 50% downhill is probably done at a far greater speed as I rarely use the brakes like I did at first.
I still keep my bike in Auto as I really like that setting and I think Giant put a lot of work into setting it.
I always say 'thank you' to the non E-MTB bike riders when I pass them, by now I must make it look so easy to pass them on the uphill sections knowing full well the auto setting is helping me make decent progress. I haven't bothered to time myself accurately as I'm just out to enjoy myself, it's just when I go back to the van after the first run I've had to double check the time on my phone.
I forgot to add, this last Sunday at the QE Park there were three guys in Transit vans and E-MTB's
when I got back the first time and all three were having a fag, I did chuckle to myself.
