I'm used to light bikes so it would be a bit of a shock if it were to lardy.

If you're coming from an MTB background any BMX is going to feel light, one brake, no suspension, smaller wheels, no gears, even a heavy BMX is going to be lighter than a lot of MTB's
My SE is Aluminium and it's held up ok strength wise but sometimes you can feel it flex, and for the riding I now do (well when I'm fit) I wouldn't ride an aluminium 20" it'd be ok if you're super smooth and only really ride dirt but on street of park it'd last about 5 minutes.

Are you saying alloy is weaker than steel frames?

I was actually about to ask if you knew of any decent alloy frames for 24" wheels. I prefer the idea of alloy purely so it won't rust.

Steel is a bit of a vauge material spec.
For strength you want 4130 chromoly frame and forks, in a sliding scale strenght wise it'd then be 7005 Aluminium, and the bottom of the range, and the heaviest and weakest would be a Hi-ten steel/cro-mo mix, where only a few tubes are cro-mo and most are Hi-tensile Steel. rotate

Ah, that brings back memories. My Brother had a Raleigh Boxer, i seem to remember it made a ticking sound when moving. Cool

I also remember smashing it up with a lump hammer one day, not sure why, seemed like a good idea at the time, dad wasnt impressed

Classics! I tried but failed to find a picture of my Raleigh classic. I used to have a "Raleigh Extreme". It was dark purple with covers on the wheels and 5 speeds! I remember getting it on my 6th or 7th birthday and I know there is a pic of it somewhere amongst the family album. I just remember walking down my stairs and there it was.

My friends were all dead jealous, but I was totally out-done a couple of weeks later by Martin Bickley who got a "Raleigh Even More Extreme", bike for his.

I was gutted! cry

The only difference was the colour. His was bright green!

Those were the days! hehe
