I wonder how much it would cost to get it stripped and anodised instead of painted. I'm almost certainly going for the anodised finish.

Having had a matt black MTB I can safely say you will regret getting it painted that colour. It will look stunning the first time you pick the frame up. By the time you've built it up it will be covered in grease marks that are a nightmare to shift. After your first ride it will look like a 10 year old knacker that people use to get to the train station. Trust me on this, they are an absolute nightmare to keep clean and looking good.
Thanks for the headsup - my choice was flat white (think transit van) matte black (must be used for primer or something) and a selection of leftsovers from the last couple of weeks of insurance work...

I know Argos racing would do a stunning job, but it will cost £200 and that would make my dogeared frame the same price as a new 'un.

I think I'll see what's in at the weekend.

Or just MTFU and get it built as is, it's only normal riding wear & tear and exactly what it will look like after a few rides anyway. My Endruo looks like a bag of st anyway, still rides nicely, if anything its a slight performance advantage, no need to worry about scratching it, if the paint's already banjo'd.

Pondering going for the XT/ZTR Flow wheel option now. I didn't actually realise that Merlin did them. Works out about the same price too and the tyres will be cheaper.

Finally got it. Very happy! I will take some proper pics but there's a dodgy phone snap on the show your bikes off thread.
