What's on your christmas list?
Discussion
Was out at Gizburn today and my chain snapped a few times. The whole drive chain is pretty worn, so a whole XT group set will make the list.
Also need some new bar ends as mine snapped off when I crashed a few months ago, so some nice hope ones will do perfectly.
My brakes probably need swapping for some new ones too - although I'm asking too much here already!
OH and some glasses! Mud regularly in the eye gets annoying!

Would be interested to know why you have chosen the S-Works tarmac, havent you got an S3 at the moment?
Yeh, times have moved on with frames. I've heard it from many people that new tech in frames is quite marked over the old stuff. The Tarmac is very stiff which is what the S3 lacks.I've got a 2015 Rose Uncle Jimbo ordered as my Xmas present to myself (because nobody else is going to buy my one)... only six weeks to go.
Will be my first mountain bike since I gave it up years ago so very excited Thought about it for a while, and what type of riding I used to enjoy and figured I wasn't interested in a lightweight XC bike and would rather go towards the other side of the scale (got my road bike if I want to just go out and go long distance) so seems to fit the bill!
Looks like really good value these, and I will upgrade anything as it wears out (spec on mine isn't quite as good as the photo but same colour).
Quite amazed at how much mountain bikes have progressed in the last 10 years in general.

Interesting that you've gone for something 'non-aero' though considering you've been on the cervelo S bikes previously - is it just out and out stiffness you're after?Craivold said:

Yes, bunch racing is not such a worry aero wise, and if I buy an evade helmet then that alone will probably offset the aero loss of the cervelo frame! The issue only really made itself known when really sprinting out of corners, and as I'm not a sub 70kg lightweight I really felt like it could have been stiffer. Also I fancy a change. I'll have the S3 as a winter bike. That is not to say I will rule out the Venge if I can find a half decent deal (I'm a bit of a tight bd, hate paying RRP for anything).

Cool to know the thinking behind the departure from aero frames. Probably right about the helmet. I started with a cheapo Spesh Align helmet and you could literally feel the drag at above 20mph!The issue only really made itself known when really sprinting out of corners, and as I'm not a sub 70kg lightweight I really felt like it could have been stiffer. I've just ordered one of these for my family secret santa and decided to add another one for myself. Looks like a useful bit of kit:

I've a load (more) Park Tools on my list, a bike rack and panniers (I'm going to do some short distance touring next year), a Go Pro to record some of the fun when I'm cycling with the kids, and some good-will from my wife to allow me to buy/build a flat-bar CX bike with as much carbon as is possible - rims, frame, forks, crank arms, bars, seat, seat post - and nice anodised aluminium for the rest.
I've requested a Commencal Meta TR V4,... Reaction the wife gave me makes me inclined to think that's not what I'm getting :-(

I'm buying myself this, a 2015 Genesis Flyer I've wanted a single speed for a while and thought about spending a lot more on a Pearson, but this fits the bill very nicely. I'll change the freewheel to one slightly smaller as standard is 18 tooth which means I'll be spinning like crazy. Apart from that nothing else and I'll upgrade the wheels once they're shot
