What to do?

Cash wise it's worthless (a very heavily worn Ridgeback) value wise it could be someone's ride to work.

Avond and Somerset say "tell your council, not us", the council (hapless Bristol) couldn't care less, there is no option to tell them unless it's causing an obstruction.

Appreciate could put on "local" Facebook pages but it's central Bristol full of grifting junkies, so the "real" owner (and I am assuming this matters to them, I could be very wrong, as I say it is well worn but does seem generally functional with nothing obviously catastrophic wrong, but it's filthy so I'm not going to really check), is there somewhere 'better' and actually trustworthy I can use?

Can you find a serial number on the frame?

If so, could run it through https://www.bikeregister.com/

Probably a long shot though!
Nothing doing, as I say it's a very well worn bike so it would not surprise me it wasn't on there.

Technically of course it isn't mine to donate...

Could put a Facebook post in the local group asking if anyone’s had one stolen and ask them for some distinguishing features to prove it’s theirs?
As per my OP, good theory, but the general population of city centre Bristol is catatonic or otherwise unscrupulous, so I don't think that will help. I've joined "stolen bikes UK" on the Facebook site and nothing posted in the last few weeks, most of it is motorbikes anyway. I have also tried "stolen push bikes Bristol", others have posted with "I've found something in place x", if there are replies they are DM's.

Might call in to plod and see what they say, bar "head to the council old fruit", just in case.

A lot of the posts on FB are scammy looking directions to insta handles saying "they can reunite you", suggesting that could be organised...
