This was big news last summer. We had community police wombles on the prom with speed guns hiding behind bins trying to catch cyclists. There are signs up across the prom showing a 10mph speed limit for cycles.
I was stopped for something like 13mph and I was far less than subtle, asking where the law stated that I should have some sort of speedo, so dont waste my time because I have no way of knowing...
It got very heated and from what I heard and witnessed the council officials were being heavy handed. What I find interesting is that this official had no right to stop a cyclist, the cyclist gets upset and is taken away in 'cuffs and thrown in the cells but at no time was he charged with speeding, from what I can establish no one has been.
