What does "European street-legal car" actually mean?

In practice you can not increase power of car e.g. in Finland if car has too good power to weight ratio in original form.
First of all Moi.
We are in Europe, and i don't know of a faster street legal car in the 1/4 mile. Do you?
I could bring the car to Finland and drive it there on english plates no problem.
As for living there with it on Finnish plates, maybe not, but i don't live there,so it doesn't matter.thumbup

but the title is "eoropes fastest street legal car" so im assuming that should mean its the fastest car in street legal trim <shrugs>

why is it automatically hating if you make a comment thats not a big well done?
and it is. We change the tyres/wheels,remove the wheelie bar and it's street legal.
You missed the part where i raced in street legal trim for 14 years.
I'd done everything i could racing that way. We needed a new challenge and this is it.
If you don't like that then no worries. We like it and that's all that counts..thumbup

Hi Frosty,

I was delighted with your performance at Thunderball, congratulations.
Now I hope that performance, vacations & funding allow a trip to Hockenheim...smile
By the way, I saw a photo (by Scorpion) recently, Mr. Frost has another Victor as daily driver,
an estate of course for hauling customer transmissions around.
To my taste, this would make an even more wicked Pro Mod, ever thought about it ?
Thank you Benni, glad we entertained you.
Yes,Skorpion came to visit me before Easter to pick up Guido's trans.
I hadn't thought about doing an Estate version. 1 Victor is enough in anyones lifetime..biggrin

Absolutely brilliant, well done, great acheivement To put the negative comments to bed is it registered as a new car with a private plate on it or is it a reincarnation of the earlier car with enough old parts to retain the original registration? either way this does not detract from a first class effort again well done.

For the doubters/naysayers/whingers and anyone else that questions this car on PH:

Just go and see it.

It was built for one reason - to go fast (as near as possible) in a straight line.

Just go and see it. It’s not a Veyron. It’s not an F1 Car. It’s not a daily driver. It’s a Pro-Mod race car, with electric windows. The difference is that this has the capability of being driven legally on the street and whether it does, or does not (get driven on the street) is actually irrelevant.

Just go and see it. The engineering is a work of art. The finishing touches are like nothing else in it’s class or on any other race car.

Just go and see it. When you talk to both Andy and Slinky, you’ll meet a couple of real nice guys. They’re not up there own arse, they’re just normal blokes that will talk to anyone about their passion.

The fact that a PHer has tipped a bucket load of his own money into his own passion (my estimate is £100k) is what it’s all about. Isn’t that the real essence of Pistonheads?

To be fair to Andy, he doesn’t write the headlines on PH, so we can’t blame him if there’s some "imaginative" reporting going on. Obviously if you think differently, you are entitled to an opinion, which 99% on this thread will disagree with.

Please, can anyone tell me of any PHer, that has a car that can accelerate to 218mph in the time a decent car can get to 60? No? Thought not. Just think about these numbers and what is required to do this. After that, get down on your bended knees and pray to the God of power.....

That is all

BTW, if you go and see them, take some Jaffa Cakes....

Fair play to him for the record, well done. But it looks awful, and the interior is a joke. It might be a road car technically, but it's not suited to the road.

AVX490K is a "private" plate.. Seeing as the car is A VX4/90 FD Victor.. wink
Couldn't ask for a better plate really.
AVX490FDV would be better.
What an odd post, you clearly have no idea of what is involved here, to get a car to perform to this level whilst being legal to use on the public road and bearing a passable likeness to the original car (on steroids) is a huge achievement, and it's just begun for this car.
Tell me, do you buy your cars based on the colour? if you're old enough to drive that is wink

Is this car a all British attempt at this worlds fastest street car. Or is help and tuning coming from the Americans, Would be a shame if it was.
It's tuned by Shane Tecklenburg from California, who is an honorary brit.
Turbos are Precision, engine is a Chevy.
It was made here, and we run it here.
It's a joint effort. No shame at all..
Regardless of who's involved, I think the RV3 team can be very proud of themselves, and even if they have a Yank motor and tuning specialist, and probably loads of scandinavian and german fixings and bits, it's still a very British team from what I can tell.

By the way, the British Olympic rowing coach is German !

But it looks awful,
I couldn't disagree more, I think that considering the amount of engineering that has had to fit in under the bodywork,
Andy, Jon Webster and all others involved have created a stunning work of art.
I think that looks great. (not that that really matters given what it does)

Anyhoo, apart from the odd comment it's fantastic to see the support we have out here in PH land.
Thank you all for getting behind the project. Now we've shown a little bit of what we can do we're eager to get back out there in June and let er rip..biggrin
I think it's ace that there's a PH sticker (or 2) on the front of your car.

All the best with the next stage.

I haven't seen RV3 run in the flesh , YET !
But the clips i've seen, and the comments i've heard from those who seen your runs have said that it's epic.

The main thing is the impression that you've done things the hard way, because you can, not the easy way because you can.
Sure, go build a fibreglass tube framed non road legal, barely race class legal car and struggle to win races let alone smash records.
Now consider taking on those challenges with car you can actually drive on the roads, and the task at hand is 100 times harder im sure.

I'm sure every Pistonheads member, British or not, will be behind you when you go for the record.

What a machine, the similarities between this and my own car are unbelievable, I mean they both have ph stickers and erm ..well that's about it! But seriously an incredible machine that must have took commitment and determination on an epic scale. You guys are the ultimate petrol heads who are slightly mental but I admire immensely. Top job and good luck with the world title.
