Mixed bag of a weekend to be honest.

Weather did it's usual Easter thing, then I decided to play bowling with the timing blocks. Didn't realise how far over I was to be honest, nevermind. :-)

Second run went okay but chasing some ignition / fuelling problems, then lost oil pressure on the last run when Dave slid into my lane, just glad everyone got out of that one in one peice, that could have got a lot more ugly than it was.

Hopefully will be ready for Springspeed if we can repair some parts. If not, might have to forfeit a few meetings to get it ready again. We'll see, glass is always half full as far as I see things smile

Yeah, good (half) weekend for me on screen and radio,my neighbors probably think I am nuts
for hanging the laundry out in the (sunny, 23°C )backyard to dry,
wearing cordless headphones and shouting "YES!" sometimes...nuts
Some teams look promising for the season, and some runs were just unbelievable,
especially Joosten´s 6.2 in the dark on a damp track....bow
The Habermann Bros. seem to have a fine hand with the set-up, too,
shame about the reverser issue in the semi.

Question : when the "Showtime" Fuel FC was pushed into (Pre??)stage (???),
was there no infringement of the "blue line-hands off" rule ?
No nagging here, just curious about that.

We are having our (inter)national "Test & Tune" weekend in 11 days,
with a few matches between Pro/Super Pro ET cars at MZA Luckau........biggrinbiggrin

Lets hope for a fast , safe & sunny season,
Benni

It would be in an FIA round, but as the Pro-Fuel shootout is essentially match racing they can run by whatever rules they want really. It's more about the show than about DQ'ing cars for minor infringements.

Bill: Hopefully we won't be out too long. We'll know once the weekend comes around the extent of the damage. Yea the altered bit me on that one, buckle got under my rib cage and gave me a good jolt. Didn't feel it til a hour or so afterwards because of the adrenaline, but got checked out by the medical staff just in case, they were really good. smile

Andrew: I'd like to see the video if you get it uploaded. All went a bit pete tong quite quickly so would be nice to see it from the outside.

The Pro Fuel Shootout is not a match race. In fact the rules are very specific just like FIA. There was no infringement commited as the car was not pushed into stage. I am the last person to touch the car and I am 12 inches back from the blue line when I make the last trim to the barrel valve. The question should have been why is the car always pushed towards the line????

Bob, is it to save the clutch and keep the heat levels down?

I noticed the Al-Anabi team push the car into the waterbox, is this for the same reason?

Nope, wrong.

Pushed toward the line. That is different.

Sorry Bob, was purely taking his suggestion that the car was pushed into pre-stage at face value, and trying to make the point that if it had been, then it's not exactly a huge deal at the easter meeting! I think everyone realises you are a professional bunch of chaps smile

I do sometimes think that funnies in particular have got less spectacular over the years though I do realise that although the 2,000 {or whatever} Ed Pink motors in the early 70s sounded impressive then they would probably sound muted compared to the modern monsters. As well as dry hops I also remember that in the early 70s if the light was right the funnies spat flame even at tickover or burning out wheras now it's only on full throttle. Then the burnouts that say Stardust and the Paula Murphy car did were tremendous and much better than anything today. Also I notice that in the pit lane warm ups the throttle blipping {fantastic if you are near}is getting less and less wheras in the 70s it was universal.

I suppose it's like saying a Maserati 250f was better to watch than a modern gp car and it's why nostalgia racing is getting so popular.

You remember. Nostalgia is the way forward.A lot cheaper and far more entertaining. Also sound a lot better.Maybe we could have 5.5 sec reliable funny cars that are not in effect throwing a dice to see if they can get a full pass in without the tiers going up in smoke.clap
