I love the look of the my DC2 over the EK9 and is supposed to have a lot more torque, but haven't ever driven the EK9.

Have a look at this topic, but is posted on the ITR forum so may be a bit biased:

DC2 and no mistake!

Had an EP3 CTR for just over a year and it never really grew on me. But a DC2? There's one in my future somewhere...

Yo Rock!

No, never driven an EK9, but I would imagine it's more of a raw experience than the EP3? The only time I ever really enjoyed driving mine was when I took a trip up to Fort William in Scotland copying an article in read in EVO. TBH though, you could enjoy that drive in just about any car!

Cheers,

Hi Rocky,

As long as you don't mind even less 'comfort', good move to either car!

Not driven an EK9, but know a few guys on itr-dc2.com that have. Consensus seems to be that the EK9 is even more of a go-kart (although possibly not as resolved at the limit), even peakier engine, and a little stiffer (certainly than a UKDM DC2). So if the DC2 is a 'marmite' car, the EK9 is extra-strength marmite!

Not to say it's a better car though...read the following article by Russell Bulgin (if you don't know who he is then shame on you!):-
http://www.honda.org.uk/honda_integra_type_r_vs_ci...

That itr-dc2 link above doesn't work for me, but if you use their search engine with "EK9 AND DC2", a 4-page comparison thread pops up in the first page of results. Lot of good info there...

...but as always, you need to drive them both to decide what's right for you! Let us know what you decide...

Which one?!?

If you're referring to the original NSX-R, then you're the one succumbing to fanboyism. By all accounts it's not particularly suited to UK roads...

Type R talk quickly descends into fighting talk, i'll try and keep away from that.

Just a thought - Have you considered the Accord Type R? It will easily keep up with the DC2 and easily out run the EP3 on B roads and is more exclusive. Having previously owned one for 4 years I speak from experience. The drive between the ATR and DC2 are very similar, and many owners have gone from DC2 to ATR and commented how similar the 2 are, many even prefer the ATR.

There is no point putting the Type Rs into lists as everyone has their own needs, plus I would imagine very few ppl here have actually driven all models. Needless to say I don't agree with the list posted above wink

I think 'many' is overstating it (Many ATR owners maybe, but that's unsurprising!).

And it won't 'easily keep up' with a DC2 - ultimate grip and bhp/tonne are both lower, and the chassis is a little less playful. I'm not saying it's miles behind ('cause it's not), but it IS slower, so I'd suggest you're being disingenous there...

...that said, the DC2 is slower point-to-point than a well-driven S2000, but IMHO the DC2 is the better car. And the ATR IS a very good car...if you need the practicality it's well-worth considering, and the H22 is a more flexible lump than the B18...

Knew someone wouldn't be able to resist biggrin On the road you will find no difference between the 2. the ATR is stiffer (thanks to extra bracing and it being a saloon) than a DC2 and the engine has a lot more torque. What the DC2 lacks here it makes up for with its weight advantage and you would need a good driver to show any difference between the 2. That's just my experience of driving both, and also pitching one against the other on track.

Anyway, that aside I am mearly offering another suggestion to the OP. I wanted a fast hatchback, and ended up with the ATR as I felt it was a more complete package. No family, no need for 4 doors, it's just a great under-estimated car.

However, if it comes down to personal choice out of the EK9 and the DC2, i'd take the DC2. Fantastic car that takes you back to basics and is inspiring to drive. Plus I also find the 1.8 more versatile.

I'm not sure which is the best, as I haven't driven/owned them all, but the DC5 is the purest Type R.

The DC5 is the only Type R *specifically* designed to be a Type R...all the others were developed from lesser models.

Are you sure about this? Was the DC2 not specifically designed to be the only UK model with this platform, and there is no other model sharing the FD2 platform.
