Honda s2000 best year?
Discussion
Granted that's low mileage for the year but way overpriced. I've just bought a Sept 06, 56 plate car with a very full Honda service history for £6,300 from a private seller. Mileage is 88k but I'd sooner buy higher mileage with a good history than a car that might have only been used once in a blue moon or only for short trips. Anyway, 88k over 7.5 years is no worse than average.
I've had the car for about 3 weeks and everything feels very fit. I know you can never be sure what kind of driver had the car in the past but I'm beginning to suspect that whoever it was seldom, if ever, explored north of 6000rpm. Time will tell but so far, so good!

Agree mate. I have been scared off getting an 09 plate , but a mate of mine who's a mechanic, says the s2000s are bomb proof, and on the s2k forum they only talk doom and gloom , with only 1 problem with the s2000 in a thousand and that's all they talk about. Not my words by the way. I've had the car for about 3 weeks and everything feels very fit. I keep seeing comments about the lower cost of the road fund licence on earlier cars but I looked into this before buying mine and according to the government web site the cut of date is cars registered before 1st March 2001. Everything registered after that date is in the higher band, i.e. £485 for 12 months. See http://carfueldata.dft.gov.uk/new-vehicle-tax.aspx....
Am I missing something or has the cut off date changed?

Anything pre march 2006 is lower tax band 275 or 285 can't remember and then after March 2006 it's an eye watering £485 a year.Am I missing something or has the cut off date changed?

Tax band K (£285) is for cars emitting more than 225 g/km that were registered between 1st March 2001 and 23rd March 2006.
So an S2000 that was registered between these dates is £285. An S2000 registered before 1st March 2001 is £230.

Weird, I visited the government web site again and this time it gave me the cheaper rate for cars registered before March 06, whereas before it seemed to be saying that all cars registered after March 01 were on the same rate. I'm stuffed either way but good news for you folk with pre March 06 cars!havoc said:
Get a quality 05/06 with good history and low miles, save yourself some cash*, get the geo done to your satisfaction and enjoy yourself...
* Road trip away with the missus in the car so she doesn't mind the cash you've spent on it?!? Maybe a trackday too...
04-06! Why do people always forget about the 04? The 04 is exactly the same as the 05, facelift and all the enhancements. I feel undervalued in my awesome 04 * Road trip away with the missus in the car so she doesn't mind the cash you've spent on it?!? Maybe a trackday too...

04 is a great year. I am getting my 09 tomorrow , although it has an 08 chassis and. 08 engine , the car sailed through its mot and service, new tyres , brake pads, discs, new oil , it's looking mint.smallsmalls81 said:

Wow, you work quickly. What colour paint and seats? Dealer or private?RenOHH said:
Lovely. I wanted a black one but couldn't turn down the deal on my Moonrock. Unless I'm mistaken, all S2000s from 07 onwards had those 5 spoke wheels. Like this?
That's them mate , the moonrock is a stunning colour , I had a hard choice buying the 09 reg but this car has never had a problem, fsh everything seems fine . It's the gt but can take off roof and turns into a roadster. Edited by smallsmalls81 on Thursday 10th April 17:53

I never see s2000s on the road very rare, I bet people won't know what the car is, I remember taking it for a test drive and people were pointing at it I had a woman say to me , "Nice Hyundai" umphhhhhhh!
Been called a hardresser

Cool car mate
I like best " Always wanted one of those "
But the funniest was in Harlech , when cruising through the town in a line of about 10 S2000's we slowed to an almost stop and an old boy stepped into the road and wavedhis wallking stick at me in an agressive manor ansd said " Bloody Yuppie's" in a broad welsh acent. I had trouble drving as a result of laughing so much.
