Could it be that honda are just optimistic with their figures?
It's been suggested before...and not just at Honda (most makers of high specific-output n/a engines, in all honesty...look at the Clio 197!). ITRs were between 180 and 187, by all accounts. S2000's again are often a few horses short. But 10% off sounds too much, esp. for the K20A, which isn't as highly-strung (in UK spec) as the older VTECs.

we have never had a problem with healthy itr's they have always made around 190ish bhp its only ones with high millage that are burning excess oil that make less than they should. i add to what i said yesterday by saying that bmw m3's are also very bad for their power out puts the evo's that claim 320bhp have more like 280 bhp this is because many highly strung engines that come from the manufactuere are bench tested on an engine dyno in perfect atmospheric condiditions with 100 ron fuel on standalone management. the manufacturers give as figure that they have safely tested to in 100% perfect conditions
