Had an FK8 and loved it. Traded it in for an FL5 and for me it is a definite improvement. Interior is light years ahead and the car is generally more poised and sophisticated. Feels a more expensive product. Done nearly 5k and the engine is loosening up nicely.
It's a little slower than the FK8 right? I agree the interior is much nicer but that alcantara wheel will be nicely shiny after 20k miles - same as the facelift FK8.
But the ride options are disappointing. Sport is very firm, more than the FK8 for sure. Now as you can select comfort in individual then that's not a deal breaker but the range of options should have 2 every day useable levels IMO.

It's obviously important to clear out the very dilute solvents and soap, which once dry leave a slightly rough texture at first which rapidly softens and then looks again like new.

Alcantara wheels can easily be cleaned with upholstery cleaner and a good microfibre cloth.

Trust me, after 20,000 miles the material weave wears flat and therefore shiny, its not a question of cleaning. I've run a lot of cars with alcantara wheels and I've tried every possible method of cleaner, including the very good advice you offer here. Been really careful to avoid greasy or dirty hands and even held it in varied places It's obviously important to clear out the very dilute solvents and soap, which once dry leave a slightly rough texture at first which rapidly softens and then looks again like new.
Certainly you can delay it but it'll go in the end.

This is my alcantara steering wheel at 33,000 miles and I don't wear driving gloves ??
Are many people still waiting on an allocation of an Civic Type R FL5 or has demand now been met due to the general downturn.
I am still waiting but I understand that I am now 2nd in line at my selected dealer (in Scotland and I live in Hertfordshire). I started out at No 7 a year ago about the time I started this thread.

Although it’s not necessarily a true representation, WBAC are offering mid/high 30s for them, so the downturn is definitely here. Lots of dealers being risk adverse as they are sitting on stock across all makes and models that’s not moving.
I wouldn’t let that put you off, it’s a fantastic car.

So just over a year after starting this thread I have secured a brand new FL5 Type R in Championship White and I even secured a small discount. The car will be delivered to the dealer in January and I will collect it on 1st March. I am very pleased with the outcome.
Congratulations. I’ve had mine (also in white) for coming up to four months now and delighted with it. There’s nothing of any real importance (some moan about the relatively small fuel tank or the fact you’ve got to waste 5 seconds of your life turning lane assist off) that I don’t like - it’s really a special car. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am doing.

They are indeed superb cars to drive, most fun and involvement I've had in a long time, I look forward to every drive. I didn't realise you can fully disengage the LKAS - how do you do this - is it simply pressing the LKAS button each time the system automatically come on?

Glad you have sourced one. Mine turns up on Friday. My dealer tells me they now have a second one allocated so either some dealers are struggling to sell them and declined to take their allocation or Honda UK have more landed than they are letting on.

Yes - it’s a few scrolls up the car info menu on the dash using the button on the right hand side of the steering wheel to the safety settings section (from memory) and you can disengage it in there. The 5 seconds it takes to do that gives the gear knob time to warm up

Thanks, I'll take a look later. The 5 seconds it takes to do that gives the gear knob time to warm up
Yes, gear knob is freezing now and I'm interested to see how hot it gets come the summer! The owners manual even has a warning about it...
Nothing to do with me but ... 2 days to run, no reserve, and currently at £36,666 ?
